I am ready to buy a CUT and need some input into my decision. I have narrowed it down to two models, but not having very much experience with tractors, especially new CU tractors, I thought I would turn to the industry experts: The end users……

I have a log home on 5 acres. It is all rolling pasture type surrounded by woods. All of this acreage (minus house) must be mowed. I also have about 700' of gravel driveway to maintain. I was taking care of this with a 1973 Ford 4000 tractor, 6' bush hog, and small Murray mower/tractor. The Ford was just way too big for the task at hand and I wanted to upgrade, so I sold my tractor and bush hog yesterday. I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket….

With the help of this site, I have narrowed my search down to either a Kubota 7800, 4WD, HST or a Kioti CK30, 4x4, HST or GST. I will purchase a 3 pt. 72" finish mower and a 60" rotary cutter (aka bushhog) with one of these tractors. I want to use the finish mower for most of the land but want to have the bushhog in case I get behind mowing and the grass gets too long for the finish rig.

With all of this said, which of these tractor should I buy. My budget is $15K and I have quotes to where I can get either tractor and both mowers for under this amount (within $200 of each other). I have ridden the 7800 and it seems to be a fine tractor. I plan to go and ride the Kioti this week, but from all I have read here, I don't think I will be disappointed in the Kioti.

I know that for the money I get more creature comforts (cruise control, telescoping 3 pt links, cup holder, and around 2 more PTO hp) with the Kioti. It is also heavier than the Kubota but the wheel base and width of the tractors are about the same. Here is the deal, the Kubota dealer is here in the town I work in so any warranty/service work that I can not do at home is very convenient to get done. The Kioti dealer is 2 hrs away. Should this influence my decision????

Which tractor should I buy? Some quick input would be most grateful!!!

Thanks in advance!

The distance to the dealer could be a problem if and when you have them. The Kubota's are easier to sell although I doubt you would want to change soon but it is a point to be addressed and should be. The B-7800 is lighter as it is a perfect low impact lawn mower with a full host of easy to attach tools. ....

Same boat here. I've narrowed to the b7800, ck30 or maybe a case. 4x4 and hst are a must. FEL, hoe, landscape rake are musts. B/w the first two, I'm not sure. Kubota has pedigree, kioti has some neat features. Dealer distance not an issue. My app is commercial landscaping; spreading topsoil, digging walkways, moving mulch/scrub.. heavy stuff sourced out.

Any more thoughts on this topic from anyone; specifically between these two models?

If you are going to use it commercially, check the weights against your tow rig.

A 7800 with a backhoe will just about max out a 7000 pound GVW trailer. The Kioti might kick you up into a 10,000 GVW and a 1 ton pick-up. ....

All I can tell you is I have 610 hours on my Kioti DK 35 and it has been problem free. Very pleased with it.
I did have to change a tachometer cable at around 500 hours (cost $8) ....

The CK 30 is a nice machine and owners seem real happy with them that I have read about.
I have been reading about a lot of problems with the Kioti backhoes however (on a differant site). If you would go with Kioti I recommend using a differant backhoe like Rhino, Woods, Etc. ....

The CK30 weighs 3,055. That is 1300 pounds more than the B7800/2910.

I would hazard a guess that with a backhoe and a loader in place it would nudge 5,000 pounds. ....

I found the actual weights on the Kioti web site. The CK30/TLB weighs 4700 pounds. ....
