I have a JD790 and plan on purchasing a Woods 7500. I was wondering if anyone had this setup and/or could advise on what kind of pricing I should expect. I also wanted to know if using the Woods sub-frame would affect the use of the 3-point hitch implements once the backhoe was park. (ie, is the sub-frame in the way of the three point hitch lower arms ect...). Hope someone can help me.

I have a Woods-9000. Be sure to get the largest bucket you want with the backhoe. According to my dealer 1 bucket is included in the price no matter which size bucket you choose. Bigger buckets cost more money when you purchase them later. ....

I have a Woods 6500 with subframe mounted on my JD 855. The only subframe bracket that stays on the tractor when the backhoe is removed is mounted to the loader frame, so it does not interfere with the 3 point hitch at all. Of course you have to take the three point hitch arms and top link off to mount the backhoe, but that is as easy as pulling out the lynch pins and sliding them off.

As far as pricing, I'm sure it will vary depending on the cost of the subframe for your 790 and whether or not you get the pump kit (I did). I would highly recommend contacting Tractorman for a quote. I got my Woods from him and am glad I did, his pricing was rock bottom and service is excellent. Sorry I don't know his E-mail off the top of my head but you will see his name (with E-mail link) on other posts on this board.

Thank you for the help(eveyone). I am just thinking about the PTO pump vs the rear aux outlets from tractor hydr. I also can not believe the price difference from my local dealer and the dealers online. Can my dealer be trying to take me for 1,000 to 1,500 higher on a hoe? I am not too happy about that prospect. He is a great dealer, but I can't afford 1,500.00 more just becuase he is nice. On the machine, yes I would pay more, but on an attachment? I think he see $$$ just becuase the market will bear the price in the area. I wonder how much he really made off me on the machine. I paid 14,900 for a 790 , plus I lost 4,000.00 on my 455 on the trade in (got 8,000.00 for a 5 month old 455 w/ 3point and 60 mid mower). Oh well, can't cry over spilt bank account. Bottom line, I said yes, he didn't force me to pay that price. And boy is that 790 a nice machine.(keep telling myself that ahhahah) ....

But the 790 is underpriced right now so you got some of your money back! That is a very nice tractor for the price. Does the online price include shipping? How about the tax situation? Around here local tax is almost 10% and will quickly pay for shipping. If I was the dealer, I'd want a chance to match the price. Then there can't be any hard feelings. I may be naive, but I can't see how any dealer can blame you for going elsewhere if he is that much over the price of an attachment. In fact, maybe he would want to order a few for resale. And after all, he did get to sell you the tractor.

Well Roger, I will keep those thoughts in mind. I am sure if he was selling the product for 1,500.00 more than three other prices quoted, something is a miss. The 790 is priced right for what it is, a sturdy, basic compact with plenty of power to spare. I do however, know I could have got the machine slightly cheaper from out of state, but it wasn't worth it to me. I am sure this will be the same case when all is said and done. The trouble of me mounting this thing myself, might be worth a little more anyway, just not 1,500.00 more.

I will do as you say, of course, I would have given the dealer a shot at the $ no matter what. I never even question the selling price on the machine, I even saw a few posts stating the cost of the 790 being lower by as much as $1,000.00. Being in a business myself were service is worth paying more, I paid more for the company that was standing behind the purchase. Just that with a backhoe, it is more or less an implement, and it is hard to justify the price difference. Who knows, more than likely the dealer will work something out I am sure, I just hate to haggle people.

I will be ordering a Woods 7500 backhoe in January. I noticed several discussion on PTO pump vs tractor hydr. Does the hoe provide better perfromance with the PTO pump. If the tractor had enough hydr. to power the backhoe what are the advantes (if any) of buying the PTO pump.

Just going through the decision process. Should I order the PTO pump?

I use the PTO pump with mine because the flow rate is better than my tractor's own hydraulics - especially at very low engine RPMs.. Also the PTO pump uses cheap motor oil and it's own reservoir. Which keeps it separate from my tractor's high dollar trans/hydro fluid. ....

Do you find that the Woods 7500 backhoe hard to control when using the PTO pump? I heard this can be a problem when first using the backhoe. ....

Thanks for the nice words ct. yank, It is a pleasure serving customers like you. As far as the p.t.o. pump question, it's good to know what the hydraulic output of the tractor your mounting the backhoe, the auxillary pump puts out 6 g.p.m. @ 540 r.p.m. Many of the newer tractor models have hydraulic output exceeding this and do not need the pump kit. New users will find it easy to control their backhoes at low engine speeds. Become familliar with the controls and allow yourself time to build up the coordination skills to run the backhoe smoothly before increasing engine speed. Whatever you do, do not practice near a building (speaking from experience). Keep in mind that whether or not you are using the tractor hydraulics, or the p.t.o. pump kit, as you increase engine speed, you increase the speed of the backhoe. C.T. Yank, you have a good Christmas, I am gald to see you are being productive at work these days (by reading C.T.B. and posting messages) ....
