What is the difference between the Boomer tractors and the models 1720 or 1920 tractors. Is it only looks and size or can one do more than the other as it lifting or front loader work?

Lou, It's more than looks and size...but you can't beat looks of those Boomers but if you look at the specs. the 20 series has got the Boomers beat. Example: 4 cylinders running at a lower RPM for rated HP, better 3PT lifting capacity, and It's just a heavier machine. Check out newholland.com and see for yourself. ....

I agree with Vince. In addition, I believe the 1720 and 1920 did not have hydrostat transmissions available, they have either manual gear or the 12x12 SSS (synchronized shuttle shift) transmissions.

I purchased a NH 1720 last year and so far been really happy with it.I opted for the 20 series for a couple of reasons. The first is that the specs. on the 1720 like the previous post are in my opinion better, it seems the boomer platform remains the same and more hp is added by uping the engine revs.
The second reason is the boomer has far too many plastic parts on it.Plastic
pieces usually have to be replaced rather than repaired.

At the risk of displaying how little I know about tractors......

I just bought a used '96 Ford NewHolland 1620, 4wd, hydrostatic with loader, power angle york rake, and a power angle fisher plow. It had 375 hrs on it. I have never owned a tractor before, and plan to use this for mowing, post hole digging, light snow removal, and general around the small horse operation use.

If anyone has any experience with or thoughts about this model, please let me know. I will need to buy a post hole digger, and mower in the spring. Thoughts on those purchase would also be appreciated.
Tony ....
