Help. Upstate NY. 2 feet snow. Kubota B7800. Terrible traction with loaded R4 tires and weight box. Almost slid off side of hill, . I think I need chains. What type? Front as well? Where to get?

I don't think any tire will do great in 2 feet of snow. I have chains but clearance is always an issue to be taken seriously. You can see my picture 12. I like front for their ease of install, help steering and they carry the load with front end loaders. ....

All 4 would be great and I will do it if necessary but rears cost an extra $205. I don't have a lot of side hills, but when I tried one, the rear slid down like a sled. Try www.tirechain.com for prices. ....

In response to a thread about traction and using my CUT in the snow, I just bought a set of rear chains from tirechains.com. I have a JD4300 with 4WD and turf tires. I have had the chains on for 2 weeks, here are some observations:
1) Tirechains were the cheapest BY FAR - shipping for 160 lbs of chain was very reasonable.
2) I got the 2 link chains (a cross chain every 2 links), these were far cheaper than the V-bar chains and I have used the tractor in the snow very sucessfully.
3) I was suprised at the size of the links, they are huge, pics on tirechains.com do not show this well.
4) JD says do NOT put chains on the front, now I can see why, but would probably be able to get them on anyway if I increased the wheel width (did that for the rear wheels). Having used the tractor in the snow (with blade for snow removal) I dont think I really needed the front chains anyway.
I consider the purchase a great success, hope you have as much luck

Kubota B's have narrow clearance in back, no clearance in front. Need narrow profile chains. Found them, made in Scandanavia, at TireChainsRequired.com. Very nice, and knowledgable. "H" pattern. I will keep you informed.

well just joined.....and am going to install spacers on my b7800 rear tires tomorrow. bought a set of chains and when i put them on my turf tires found they need an extra 1/2 inch so they will not rub on the inside of the fender. went out and bought the kabota hub extenders, logic being that they should supply everything i need, so i can get it all done in one day. one thing i am wondering about is how to best remove the existing stud bolt, will two nuts tightened together work? any advice/sugestions? ....

You'll like the added traction. Here are some installation tips for the rears.
It helps to have a second pair of hands, and the first time you might want the help of someone experienced.
Do the inside connector first, as tight as you can, and cut off or tie down the extra links so they won't hit. Then the outside connector. After each use, yank around any side-to-side slippage. As they break in you will likely tighten the outside connectors by a link.
I ensure both rears are in the same position, with the connectors on both sides in the one location where I can check them (the hitch area), so after I can check one I don't have to move the tractor to find and check the other. ....
