I got a nice new front blower for ny B7610. Since we are about to get a big snow fall today, I am wonderng if I can modify my clearing approach from years gone by where I would go out several times during the storm with my GT each time the snow was up just less than one half the height of my auger.

So with this much bigger two stage Kubota blower with 20" auger versus my old one stage GT with a 11" auger can I wait for the full 18" to fall or should I go out when it is about 10" (half the auger height) and clear it in two passes. I do have a big parking area where I have to re throw alot of the snow as well.

Any comments.

I would say let it fall till it is done. As long as it is not over the top of the blower you should be all right. Just let your engine sound determine your drive speed. ....

We had a decent snow here last night (10"), and I found that even on my BX2230 the motor will not bog down even when the snow is piling up in front of the auger (moving faster than it will throw).

I have found that in low range I can go full speed and the blower will keep up with whatever's on the ground. Even up to the top of the auger, at full throttle.

Another tip: when the snow is light and fluffy, it likes to blow back into your face (no cab yet) with just a little wind, if you throttle back a little bit, to say 1/2 throttle, it doesn't get as bad. ....

With the snow light and fluffy you could drop the deflector and keep it full of snow to help keep the wind out.. ....

Snowblower works great! I went out with well over 10+ inches. This is a very dry fine dense but not compact snow. I am glad I did not wait for the storm to end. I think I could have waited but it would have been much more diffcult particularly in my large parking section and I would have had to go very very slow. We still have more to come so I will have more opportunities to see how it handles drifts ...... ....

Like oneace said, let the rpms determine your speed. I run mine at 2500. I have had the snow rolling right over the top of the blower,24+". Without any problem. "that ain't no lawnmower" The little diesel is impressive!
Start on the upwind side when possible. ....
