I have a 2003 FarmPro 2425, I live in Fl. I bought this tractor used a few months back, and work on it more than I use it. Now the PTO stopped working. Does any one know something simple, or what could cause this, it worked fine 3 weeks ago. I have checked lever, it is still attached.

I think this is a straight forward setup with no electronics here.

Have you with tractor off tried turning the shaft by hand to see if engaged?

It would seem the issues would be:
the pto is not fully engaged.
there is something blocking the full travel of the linkage such as a stick.
linkage needs oiling.
Or you have something on major side, that I doubt.

Does the engine die back any when you let the clutch out? If so could be clutch is slipping.

I have tried both RPM speeds. Tried starting it in pto gear. Also, if the tractor is not running, or running, you can spin the PTO shaft by hand, with no resistance. The system worked just two weeks ago, I replaced a hydrolic hose on the steering colum, that's about all...I can think of. ....

Just to clarify, you can spin the PTO shaft with the PTO engaged and the tractor shut off?

Best of luck. ....

I am not 100% sure but do not think there is any electrical in the pto engagement system. But look around the area you worked to replace that hose for a loose wire and also check the hyd oil (the oil level) for it might have a electrical or hyd engagement system for the pto. I think it uses a pure manual you depress the clutch to design the pto shift manual lever and engage with releasing the clutch pedal.
Which brings a thought, sure your clutch pedal is fully releasing and coming up all the way? If it is two state clutch as I think it is that may be the issue. So be sure nothing blocking the travel or the clutch pedal or it's linkage and spring in on it and it does not need lubing. ....

Yes, the pto shaft can be spun by hand, when engaged in either speed, with the tractor running, or when it is not. ....

I have checked all fluid levels, they are full. It actually was low, when it seemed to work last time I checked.. I looked at the mechanical parts of the clutch, that I can see under the tractor foot rest, and saw no other issues. ....

If that is the case, it's really only one of two possibilities.

The PTO clutch is shot, usually though you will feel some fairly significant change in the amount of force required to spin it by hand between engaged and not.

The shifter mechanism has become disconnected and it's merely not going into gear. In this case look for where the engagement rod enters the TX case and see if there is an inspection plate close by.

Best of luck. ....

there is no friction at all when spinning the PTO shaft. It kind of feels like something is not engaging. It looks like I have to take the hole top end off the gear case, to look at it. ....

Can't help wondering if you've looked at this from the standpoint that your clutch and/or adjustment thereof might be the issue here. I suspect it's a two stage unit, since most Chinese tractors are so equipped. If so, there should be a cover plate on one side or the other that can be removed for access to internal adjustments. I would start there before tearing into the gear train. Just personal opinion. ....

I'd have to go along with murf's line of thinking. That's why I asked if you tried both speeds. My lever shifts easily into the 540 speed, but I have to pull really hard to get it to go into the 1000 rpm speed and even then it will jump out if I don't use a bungee to keep it up.
Sounds like you have a shift lever problem. ....

"thank God nothing was broken"

I fully understand and agree. However he does not always protect our failure for maintenance. I know, been there. Matter of fact this reminds me I still need to have a remote hyd cylinder fixed. kt ....
