Thanks, guys - I appreciate the info. I'll have to check with my dealer on the price diff. I'd like him to weld some chain hooks on to, so the question was, do I bring him my square bucket or swap it for a round one with the hooks after he's installed them. As I said, the 3130 came with round and it worked fine.

This is an 80 meter four-square antenna (3.5MHz). All I need is to get the wires an inch or so beneath the surface, just to keep the horses from kickign them up. There is a school of thought that favors elevated radials. Not practical here.

I noticed a small plug near the PTO switch on my L3130. It is 12V but doesn't look like it would carry much current. Is it for the enclosure? Could it be used for lights?

Ah - that makes sense. I guess it helps to talk in terms of what might happen. I basically said "I want to treat it like a car - I'll take it who-knows-where and I want it fixed if it breaks".

Similar to WPHill - 3130 HST LA513, SQ600 bushhog, just much fewer hours - less than 40 so far.

Problems or defects: There was a small 'gouge' in the back of the seat when the tractor was delivered. I wasn't here and my wife didn't notice it.

Were they resolved: Yes - the dealer came out with a new seat!

Dealer satisfaction: Outstanding.

As so many have already said, I don't know how I got along without this thing for so long. I find new uses for it every time I fire it up. Amazing power, maneuverability, etc. Great fun too!

I use 'active subjects' almost exclusively to see the latest activity. But I see a lot of stuff from the, shall we say, 'lower signal-to-noise' sections of this otherwise wonderful site. Is it possible to pick and choose the forums that are included in the 'active subjects' display?<br>

I've pulling a lot of 2-4" trees out myself. The best strategy I've found so far is to wrap a chain around the trunk a foot or so above the ground and pull slowly from the draw-bar. Sometimes one will be stubborn but pulling in another direction will tame it. Just watch how long the chain is vs. how high the tree is so it doesn't come down on you!<br>

I think a big factor is the roughness of what you're cutting. I got a 5' that I use with my L3130 but since I only have grass and light scrub (nothing bigger than 1/2" or so) I wish I had gone 6' so it was wider than the tires to get closer to fences and such.

I had a similar concern for a similar-sized lot. We have horses and lots of levelling & bush hogging to do, and I guess I tend to 'over-buy' a bit. I don't think so in this case as I'm VERY happy with the L3130 I got. The comfort level knowing there is plenty of power to pull, carry, mow, etc. is big for me. No resale concerns. tho... Go with the L!

I got one for my Kubota at www.thesmartfarmer.com - he makes them in any color you need and they are very high quality. ~$300 I think - you'll find him on eBay too.

I second the loader recommendations. I've got a L3130 with the LA513 loader and it is absolutely amazing how many things I find myself using it for. It's like a big wheelbarrow/toolbox for jobs around the property. Moving rocks, sticks, logs, clippings, or other junk we pick up. Carrying fence posts, wire, tools, cement, and other stuff. Materials I used to pull a wagon or push a wheelbarrow around for tasks now all go in the loader. Not to mention lifting heavy items out of the truck, pulling bushes and fence posts out. Plus the front ballast for various rear implements is 'free'. <br>

I'm interested in the way you mounted the lights on your ROPS. Facing forward, do you find the lights bother you - glare, brightness, turning your head, etc? I have a fiberglass cap and was thinking of mounting forward-facing lights from underneath the cap and rearward-facing on the ROPS. Your setup looks simpler but I wonder if the glare from lights behind me would be too much.

Thanks! I figure it is a pretty cheap experiment. The square PVC post was less then $10 at lowes, add some paint and a block of wood for the base and bolts and it's done. No drilling on the tractor and easy to remove if it breaks.

I'm sure you can get info on the wiring, perhaps from your dealer, but I've found one of the best brake controllers to be made by 'Prodigy'. (We tow horse trailers.) It is really nice in that it is not a timing-based controller - it is inertial. That is, it applies brake energy based on how hard it detects the vehicle stopping. Tap the brakes and you'll get very little braking energy. Stomp on them and it'll load 'em up. Very nice. Got mine at an RV shop online - shouldn't be hard to find. About $120.

I have 12 acres with about 2 to mow around the house. I still use my 42" 21HP Craftsman 'finish mower' ;) for that but I got an L3130 for bushhogging, scraping, etc. for the rest. It is an AMAZING machine. My lot has some very hilly spots, and by sticking with the recommended up-and-down vs. across strategy of working hills, it is wonderful. Plenty of power, lots of implement flexibility, etc. etc. I didn't look hard at JD but looked closely at NH and FarmTrac. The HST on my L3130 is fabulous.

Enough blubbering - count this as one vote Kubota and one vote L3130 ;)
