THanks guys. I assumed water, after our nasty winter, and a not filled up tank. So I flipped through the manual, and found what is supposed to be a water drain, located on the lower right side of the engine ( next to the block heater)
And of course it is totally seized. So I tried to crack open the bleeder valve on the fuel filter, and also seized, silly brass bolt, and possibly me, possibly the previous owner in a moment of frozen hands and anger, using oh I don't know, vice grips or something, and now the bolt is rounded off.
Anyway, long story short, I decided to try the priming pump, gave it a few pumps, and then turned the key, and hit start, and the ol' beast started first push, like the bear she is. Go figure.
Can't wait to try tomorrow, and see what happens.
So, any thoughts, on how to get water out of the tank?

This may be ridiculous, but would it be possible to build a blade of some kind, that bolts on to the FEL to clear snow a little faster?<br>
I currently use the 7' bucket and push until I can't push anymore, then scoop, backup, move somewhere else, dump, go back, do it again. and again. and again.<br>
I am using a large tractor that is really NOT for snow clearing, but it is what I have! ( 1466 IH Farmall)<br>
So I thought, I could get some steel, build a blade, or even by one, and mount it to the FEL, possibly on a pivot, and maybe an electronic actuator or else a manual angle adjust...<br>
Can't afford to buy one, and don't have a 3PTH, so my options are limited. But scrap material is in abundance around my work ! Anyone ever done this?

Auerbach, thankyou. It was indeed a mechanical block! I took off all the housings around the steering column, and couldn't see anything wrong, not that I know what I am looking for, but it appeared to be just stuck. I gave it the ol' one two, and it came free. The shifter lever has two "keys" it can grab for either reverse, or forward, and there seems to be a lot of play going from one to the other, and it is almost possible to leave both engaged at the same time. Is there supposed to be so much play? Do I just need to be more careful shifting?
As a child of the 80's/90's and the electronic and microchip days, I am constantly blown away at the complicated mechanics of these old tractors. Someone actually had to figure out how to make all these parts work so perfectly together. The shifter parts, are all jammed in to the steering column, and must have 100 parts, but all do what they are supposed to. And thankfully, It is usually easier to fix than taking apart a computer, and going for diagnostics. I am totally mechanically INEPT. Yet, three times now I have endevoured and found a solution. Much thanks to this board and all the fabulous advice.
And now I hereby swear on my tractor, NEVER to let his fluids go down again!!! I promise in front of the whole world wide web!! Poor little guy...

Smaller, but I built a 24x24 hay shed this summer with 14 foot walls. Material costs plus a bobcat rental to dig the post holes to 6 feet, was $6000. All labour done by myself and then pregnant wife!
Didn't have a tractor, so we spread the gravel by hand. But was not as much as you will have in the barn.
A guy with a bobcat will set you $40 to $60 an hour for the top soil removal and the gravel spreading. In my area, gravel goes for around $22 a yard, in large quantities.
Our barn is hopefully going to be around 32x60 and we were quoted around $12k for materials, including metal siding, and 12 feet tall. Its not a bad do it yourself project, but allow more time than you think, and get a couple friends and some scaffolding to get the trusses up. We used a rope on each end, and it wasn't so bad.
What are you going to use for a gravel base, we are curious as to what people lay down....Good luck!

Ok, finally picked a place to post this. Hope it works!<br>
I am in the market for a CHEAP used tiller and found a 5 hp tow behind one for $250. Craftsman, 36 inch, draw bar hitch hookup. Perfect for my little garden tractor that has no 3pth or pto or hydraulics. Has anyone ever used these things? Do they work, or should I skip it and look for a good walk behind. ( which I DESPISE using!)

Tractor wasn't running...
Actually I used the self timer on the camera cuz nobody was around, and then nearly killed myself running up the snow hill to jump in the bucket! That was deadly enough, don't worry, nobody will ride the bucket. My camera wasn't too happy about sitting in the snow either.
But thanks for the warning, because I know the kids will ask!

She ran today!!! But shut off after 3 minutes, because dumb me, forgot to open the main fuel valve under the steering column. DOH! Another case of operator error!!
I couldn't find diesel 911 but found a similar product, loaded up the filters, and cleared snow for 2 hours. It was great. I can't believe how hard the snow is to move since it has been blown down by the wind and rain for 2 months.
That will teach me to get a tractor in the middle of the winter. So NEXT winter will be great. Just need to keep the fuel tank full, and mixed with all the good stuff ( PS and kerosene!) Just curios....what do people store their tractor in? We don't have a barn, or any buildings right now, but I am considering either one of those fabric garage things, or else building a shed addition to the hay shed. The wife wants another horse shelter, so building from scratch is not an option this year. I'll see if I can clear more snow all weekend, and not have to report back stories of WOE...Have a great weekend!
