Anybody have experience with the DR Chipper/Vac? I, too, hate the task of picking up leaves and want to find the easy way out. We've mulched and vacummed with our Ariens rider but it still is alot. We cut about 2 cares with loads of trees around. I ordered the DR video and it sure looks promising.

I bought a 51 inch Woods Tiller in spring. I couldn't be happier! It works well with my 2210. The tractor has plenty of power for it and the I-match makes hooking-up a breeze. It's amazingly quiet. You can see it in my pictures.

Don't limit yourself to 42 inches. You'll want the wider width to hide tire tracks and to get close to edges, etc.

I love my 2210 and loader - I know you will, too. But I did use the loader once for "serious" work without my box-blade/ballast and it was a scary. I had a bucket of firewood and was putting it into a pick-up truck when I could feel it get real nose heavy during the dump!! Now the box blade is on almost all the time.

Remember, there are many other implement toys out there to look at now! Keep your Christmas list up to date!

The Bad River Hitch mounts to a Category I drawbar and to the upper arm. You can then use your truck hitch in the receiver. The upper arm prevents the bar and ball from rotating under load. Look at some of my pictures and you'll see it on my 2210. It's well made and they sent mine very quickly from the plant in Michigan. I leave mine in the I-match when some other implement is not in use. It great to be able to back up to my trailer, lift it up and move it easily. If you are good at welding you might make one - several guys have great examples in their pictures. For me, I can solder copper plumbing - that's it. I needed help.

I felt that the guide wheels may have helped as I tried to level topsoil as I was re-doing my lawn this summer. With out the wheels one corner of my rake would "dig in" when I went over uneven ground. The wheels are supposed to allow the rake to travel evenly over uneven ground. It's like "floating" the rake. Without the guide wheels the rake can dig in too far in some cases.

I never bought the wheels - Maybe the Mrs. will surprise me at Christmas.

I, too, was worried about dropping the loader on my 2210. The video looked too easy!! But I find that after a few times I can do it quickly and easily. The only problem I ran into the first time was not taking pressure off the lines before un-hooking them. As a result I had two connections that I could not get back on because of pressure build up. I wound up just loosening the fitting to bleed a bit of fluid and then everything was OK. It hasn't happened since - a rookie error I figure.<br>

I dropped my loader in the "back yard" recently on uneven ground. That was a chore to get it lined up again. Next time it will only be flat and level ground for me.<br>

Dropping the loader after running with it for so long makes my unit feel like a sports car!!<br>

A. Cat, Glad you got the decision behind you. You couldn't have gone wrong either way. I bought the Frontier LR RL1060L for $470 at a Central Wisconsin Deere dealer. I think I got the last one before the steel price went up! My quotes were wildly differnt depending on who had one in stock or who had to order one. Mine works well, but I wish I had bought the guide wheels with it. They would have helped as I did some landscaping. They run $265 now!! Maybe next summer - winter is on its way now.

There are lots of good rakes out there. I believe Woods makes Frontier and I have a Woods tiller - now that's a fun piece of equipment! Land Pride has great equipment too.

The lights are used mainly for winter snowblowing. They are easy to rotate or tilt by hand from the drivers seat. I've seen some where one faces down and the other out. This location provides a great amount of flexibility for my applications.

I bought the 60 inch rake for my 2210 and it has worked just great. It has enough weight to move the topsoil I'm spreading yet it is small enough to use on the walking trails I've cut in my woods. For me 72 inches would have been too wide. However, choose the width for the application you have to deal with. It's a great tool.

I've had a 2210 for just over a year on my five acres. While I do not use it to mow (not enough grass - yet) I do have the loader, box blade, rake, snowblower, and tiller. It has performed flawlessly for me. It is small enough to get around on my wooded lot and I've moved over 70 yards of topsoil fill with it in the last 2 months without a problem. It's fun to drive yet powerful. I've been pleased.

I bought a GTC Woods Tiller for my John Deere 2210 and I couldn't be happier with the work it does. It turned over my new garden area with ease. The soil was rock hard and no match for my front tine tiller. I'd suggest you look into a tiller - lots of choices out there.<br>

The other tools I've found helpful are my box blade and my landscape rake. Each helps move and groom soil around the 5 acres I have. I use the box blade as ballast for my loader and have been pleased.<br>

My "worst purchase" was a Sub-Soiler point and plow. Without "down pressure" it rides up in hard soil. Not enough weight to keep it down. I now use my box blade to tear up new ground.<br>

I changed the transmission fluid and filter this morning. It's a messy job! Everything went well. I did find metal flakes in the bottom of the bucket I used to catch the oil. Not many, but they were there.

I, too, strongly considered the Legacy XL last year when I was buying "up". I had good luck with smaller (23 hp)Simplicity lawn tractors and the Dealer was/is very good.

I chose to to move to a sub-compact (JD2210) and have never been sorry. In fact, to my surprise, I bought mine for less than the Simplicity would have cost me equiped the same! And, I got a better trade offer on my old machine (though I sold it outright). My JD dealer has been great and the unit has performed well.

I looked at Kubota and NH as well. All were fine machines with good dealers in my area. If I were you I'd continue to look at Kubota (or JD, NH). I think you'll be more pleased rubbing elbows with the guys who run the really big stuff than having your unit sitting amongst other lawn mowers for waiting for service.

When I was looking I used this site to clear my head. The advice I got here was excellent. Beagle, AV8R, Hardwood, and others offer sound advice I've found.

DRankin, I bet it does! I hadn't considered that issue/problem when I loaded the unit. Now I better understand why some ramps have that "leg" under them. Makes all the sense in the world to me now. Live and Learn!

I'm redoing sections of my lawn. I added screened topsoil, then leveled, seeded and fertlized it two weeks ago. The grass is coming up nicely despite the semi-drought conditions in Central Wisconsin.<br>

However, I'm noticing that there are a few spots where either the seed didn't take or I missed areas when I seeded it. Can I just add seed to those spots or would it be better to go over the whole area (6000 sq ft) again with the seeder? <br>

I was considering buying an inexpensive "slit seeder" thinking that the new seed would get into the soil better that way as I can't roll/rake it in now. Or would the slit seeder damage the new grass already growing?<br>

Thanks for the tips. I looked at a small (4 foot) spring tooth harrow at Fleet Farm yesterday. You can pull it in two directions which changes the angle of the spring teeth or you can flip it on its back and use it like the chain fence you were talking about. It runs $259 though. Sounds like a section of old fence might be a cheaper option at first.
