Unlike my CUT, it'll move (push/be dragged) in gear, just more resistance. And yes (hindsight) I thought it was working the 4110 a little more than it should have, but it wasn't "that" noticable.

I couldn't pinpoint the leak, as fluid was everywhere. I think I'll pull it back out of the shed over Thanksgiving weekend, clean things up and verify the leak point(s).

My floodwall has some slopes that range in the 30 - 40 deg range. I built them with the CUT, and I mow them with my garden tractor. Haven't ever tipped either tractor, nor have I safey tested them to see where the tipping points are.

When building them, I was alway much more nervous on the CUT when going 'sideways' on the hill. Granted, the terrain was much softer / bumpier when building them, but I had numerous experiences where uphill tire 'felt' rather light. (Granted, I may have been no where near tipping...) But you're also up higher, making things feel different.

When mowing, it's easy to shift the cetner of gravity by basiclly sitting on the uphill fender. Maybe it's just the fact that I could just 'fall off away' from a tipping tractor - but I've never had the same uneasyness on the garden tractor.

I have (2) 110v winches on my portable gantry. I got them from northern tool (see web link). They're each rated for 1100lb - and will go 16FPM at this rating.

Winches get pretty pricey with higher load ratings. I'm guessing you're not going to find one with super speeds - for two reasons: higher rating typcially means high gear ratios (double the load rating - decrease the speed by a factor of 2) and most folks aren't looking to move super heavy loads a fast speeds (slow is safe).

Depending upon your budget - you could parallel 4 or 5 of the 1100lb winches.

If you're going to strip off the old roof, seriously consider a 'standing seam' roof. The roof attaches via a clip method, resulting in no screws through the roof panel. Can't leak through nail or screw holes if you don't have any.

nosteiner4me - thanks. The only time I ever smell anything is out of the garden hose - after it has sit for a while. Hence, I don't think I have a huge issue at the well - at least nothing the UV system won't overcome. There's a good chance the whole issue is in the piping itself, as I did a lot of changing to the system over the past year.

I'm anticipating numerous bleach treatments to clean out the pipings.

I almost forgot about the watering at night (I usually don't water), but I know folks who have gotten fungi doing so.

Soil is great around here. I planted an area about 9 days ago - and the grass is already over an inch tall. (Granted, we got 10" of rain over 6 days last week.)

Breaking one leg on a single phase motor will lead to no current or load on the connected leg - unless the motor has short to ground.

Breaking one leg on a 3 phase motor will cause the motor to single phase, drawing a lot of current with no motor movement.

I've got 4 tin cats inside my building. They're so-so... I catch about a half dozen mice every winter, but there are times where this is plenty of activity in my shop, but no mice in the tin cats.

If you do get them, I recommend the ones with the clear tops. They're easier to check. I have both styles, and the ones with the metal tops are almost impossible to see if there is a mouse in there as they hide under the entrance ramp. (They tend to smell a bit if you wait a week or two without noticing them).

I bought these after using some of the plastic spring loaded traps. Those worked the best, but I had to weigh them down, as the partial kills would wonder off with the trap. I was also a little annoying when a parial kill happened, they scream like bloody murder! (Well, I guess that's what it is going on...)

FYI,

The PTO on my 4110 (model year 2001) cannot be engaged when off the seat - no matter if the PTO is engaged before or after leaving the seat.

I don't know of any manufacturer who makes them offhand. (Probably not that popular, plus you're pulling a lot more amps.)

If you really want to go that route and can't find one, couple of options:

1. You can buy a 12vdc to 120vac converter.

2. I haven't checked the amp draw on a garage opener ecently, but you can also buy a UPS with the proper amp rating and get a few openings out of it before having to charge it.

I have the gas version of the extended cab 2500HD. I'm most likely going to get the Diesel 4 door in the next year. Reason I'm going for the 4 door - it's a huge pain getting things in and out of the back seat when you're parked next to someone. I almost always have something in the back seat - so I deal with this a lot.

Just my 2 cents worth on the extended cab.

I'm pulling this out of an email, as I sold my fixed (JD 4110) ROPS on ebay when I conveted to the foldable for the backhoe:

The width at the base is about 19.25 inches. The spreader plate that goes there (not included in this aution) is attached by 2 bolts on each side - they are about 3.125 inches apart, center-center.

There are six holes on each side of the ROPS. Some are for bolting it down, and others are to allow for existing bolt heads on the tractor. The inside set of holes are about 25.125 inches apart (center to center) and the outside to outside set of holes are about 29.5 inches center to center. These 6 holes are 2 sets of 3 - with the three going in the direction of the tractor. These holes are 2 inches apart, center to center.

If you need any more dimensions, I'm sure I (or someone else) can help you out.

earthwrks - the rear pto turns a shaft with a large dia. pulley, which in turn drives a smaller dia. pulley (this pully is the pivot point for the ditch mower) and the pivot pully turns a slightly smaller pulley mounted to the original gearbox on the MMM (where the MM PTO used to hook up)

I sealed my shop's concrete with a hospital (clean room) grade sealer, but even light traffic wears it off in less than 12 months.

I looked into various epoxy coatings a couple of years ago. I found one manufacturer that offered a ton of different options. Due to the fact I have a 10,000 pound fork lift that gets some pretty regular use on the floor - they did not recommend any of the epoxies. What the did have was large 'rubber' pieces you could expoy/adhere to the floor. This is kind of like large industrial tile. I didn't even price that out, as it didn't appeal to me.

I have found the comments concerning vehicle use wearing off epoxies as good information, as I was considering it in the garage - maybe not now...

That reminds me of my recent Norton Internet Security problem. The softare wouldn't install due to the fact a 'variant of Norton Internet Security" was found on my PC. Gave no detail of 'what it found'. After following the tech support removal directions, 6 hours (over 2 evenings) of tech support (India) running my PC remotely, removing registry entries, etc - it never would install.

I gave up, got a refund from Norton. I just couldn't believe there wasn't a utility that would either prompt or dump the info. to a text file about what the software was finding on my PC. It's like they're trying to beat microsoft for the "worst programmers award."

greg - I can't believe you're having issues on a T1 line (but obviously you are...)

While pages can be re-arranged, and you can 'flush' responses to the web browser, I don't believe there's a guaranteed method to send prioritized content from the server to an individual's browser. (Standard html does have tags like 'load me first').

Most web browsers like to see completed tables (more like complete page layouts) prior to populating your screen with data and images. Once a page or table layout is completed, images tend to be the last items populated, with text being the first.

Maybe Dennis can shed some insight into the download size in the typical advertisments - and I would guess your T1 should handle them in mere seconds. Hence, I'm wondering if you're having issue with any other web pages - possibly an issue with your PC?

Flash advertisemtn tend to do funny things is some web browsers. There was a time when I couldn't close a web page until the flash advert. completed...

Not sure how deep it is around all of the cat tails, or exactly what your scenario looks like but...

I'm thinking of a floating lawn mower design, if just cutting the tops off is acceptable. It'd be attached to a small boat, or manuvered by a couple of ropes.

Metal conduit? If so, that will help greatly, if not - the conduit doesn't give any path to ground for the noise (i.e. shielding).

Two other factors in calculating the distance between the electric and phone: Amperage of the AC line, and the length of the trench. The higher both of them are, the greater the distance required to reduce/eliminate noise.

I don't know of any formulas - but 12" minimum distance (6" in metal conduit) would be good. Unless you're pulling a ton of amps, you shouldn't see any noise.
