Dennis, I have a question. I know it was brought up a long time ago but not sure where it went from there. The thing about email notification, on a post you post to, not working. Did that get fixed or is it a thing of the past?

Also, on your post with the video on the 1/4 inching valve, that was pretty neat. I've heard about it for a long time but never really understood how it worked. You might want to put that on a new thread so it'll be easier for someone to find?

Yeah some of these names have nothing to do with where they're from. Just a name someone stuck on it and it stayed. For instance, the New York Strip and the Kansas City Strip are the same thing. Nothing but a boneless t-bone minus the tenderloin (filet mignon).

Joel, I'll agree with that. I'd even add that anyone that has a backup generator without a transfer switch should have a plan ahead of time and know what they'll be running. The bare necessities like a couple of lights, refrigerator, well pump and such. It doesn't take long for those watts to add up and bog the generator down. Of course it's dependent on the size of generator.

All this talk about parking brakes got me to thinking. I really can't remember the last time I used it. I do know how to set it though. I push the brake pedals and pull the parking brake knob. To disengage I push the pedals and push the knob in. The harder you push the pedals then pull the knob the harder the brakes are set. Maybe because I don't use them is because I don't forget to release them :) <br>

I was all for it when it was first introduced but it seems to get watered down every time it comes up. By the time if/when it gets passed it will be useless.

The thing about generators and electric motors is getting past the start up requirements. Some motors like fan and compressor motors require 2 to 3 times the running amps. It would probably start that 8 gallon 2 1/2 HP air compressor if you ran the pressure down enough. As far as it starting the compressor at the cut in pressure, I doubt it very seriously.

One way to check to see if the brakes are stuck is park it on a hard level surface and put the range selector in neutral. You should be able to roll the tractor fairly easily by hand. <br>

If that checks out OK there's one other thing. I'm assuming it has a hydrostatic transmission? If so, when was the last time of service?

Something to think about here. Anytime you buy something, the price of insurance is included into that price. Whether it's a can of beans, pair of roller skates, guns or a bulldozer. Every time someone wins a goofy (I say goofy instead of frivolous is because it is) lawsuit, every one pays. There are times that it is down right negligent and that's when it should be pressed...stopped...never to happen again. More time than not, it's plain greed. Whose to blame but lawyers. Not all but you know the ones. They even run ads encouraging lawsuits.

In the end the only real winners are the lawyer and the poor pathetic goofy ass woman that spilled hot coffee on herself because she was too dumb to know any better.

Joel, that's good info and I appreciate it. The thing is I'm not willing to spend 9K on a lawnmower. The only reason I was considering this is I know Kubota builds good stuff and it seems reasonably priced. If it won't do what I want it to, I'll look elsewhere. Maybe, just maybe the dealership would be willing to let me demo it. I haven't asked but from what you're saying, I should.
