What a shame...very sad. As others have said, it seemed like he lived a good life, largely full of those things which brought him happiness--a good lesson for those of us still living here on earth. I didn't know him, but he and I had corresponded a few times about tractor stuff. He seemed like a very giving person. He will be missed here, and in many other places, I'm sure. Thanks for the update Mark.

How common is this? I haven't had this problem (not a NH though), but I would have thought the filter presumably purchased from the dealer for the 50-hour service would have been matched to the original filter.

I got a set of the light-duty forks. I think I paid $270 for them--kinda steep but since I don't weld, beats the heck out of nothing. I've used them to move a wood stove (see pic 8), implements in and out of a pickup, and numerous brush piles and small logs. Haven't had any problem with the bucket edge so far.

I haven't used one myself, but how about a 3PH scoop? From what I've read, they work pretty well for what you're describing.

I have a 46.5" (I think) toothbar for my 48" bucket. I ordered it last year through Carver Equipment, although it's actually manufactured by W.R. Long. I paid $290, including shipping. I've seen 'em for more and for less, so it's worth shopping around. It's been great for digging out honeysuckle, pulling stumps, etc. Good luck.

I got mine in August of '03. Right or wrong, I use Ebay as a "guage" of how prevalent they might be in the used market. I think it's really only in the last six months that I've seen them starting to show up there, and oftentimes they're being sold by dealers. Short answer, I would GUESS there's still not a whole lot of 'em in the used market, but that might vary by region. Good luck in your search!

Roger, I don't have a whole lot of experience so don't go on my word alone, but I would guess if you work it with some soil moisture you'd be OK. I just did an area by my place yesterday that's pretty clayey. It had drained for a few days but had just about the right amount of moisture in it to cooperate.

First I have no direct experience, so don't mistake anything I say for knowledge. However, denwood's ideas make good sense to me and he's had success, so there ya go... Finally, I was at a conference recently and some of the Cooperative Extension folks are recommending barly straw "wattles". You might contact your local CE and see if they support this idea and could give you some tips for your particular situation. Good luck!

Glad (amazed!) to hear you came through it without any injury. Thanks for the reminder about how quickly things can change. You mentioned a quick cleanup after the "incident", before the bbq. I can only imagine a clean pair of shorts was in order!

I always make a point of reading these safety things. I surprise myself with the number of times I'm getting ready to do something with the tractor, only to think back to something I've read in the forum, and end up deciding to change my approach for a safer way.

As we "speak", I'm letting some liquid teflon seal on my fittings as just today I've run into the same situation. After about an hour, I'm going out to put the fittings back together and hope that does the trick... Good luck with your situation!

Seems a year or so ago someone on the forum said they were using a Worksaver spreader on a JD 2210. I pursued it briefly, but didn't end up buying a spreader so I can't tell you much more than that.

It must be the all wheel drive. I had a '92 Subie for many years (5 of them in the mountains of Idaho)and never got stuck (that one was selective 4WD). We bought a '03 Outback wagon in July '03 and have over 40K miles on already. It's handled everything western NY could throw at it. It is amazing; I can go from wet to snow covered / drifted to dry conditions and never feel a change in the way that car handles. Scoff at 'em all you want, but they're fantastic all weather rigs!

stuarth, I have a 60" rear blade on mine (MF GC2300, but same diff...) and it works great for snow. Mine is a Leinbach Line. I had a local welding shop mount a rod to carry some weights to give it a little better bite. Today was the first time I tried it that way--real good in wetter snow. I also use my blade turned around so it's not digging in (pushing in reverse with concave side toward tractor) for the first few snows to lay a base. When that sets up, I mostly switch to the blower. John, I have the MF GC2300 (quite similar to your BX 2200). FEL removal is pretty quick; about 5 minutes and about the same to remount. I never have it on for mowing; just too many things to keep track of and I don't need the distractions. As for moving logs, you might consider a pair of bucket forks. I have a clamp-on set and they're great! I've moved logs and brush, a wood stove, several attachments into and out of my pickup, etc. If you go this route, just make sure you have sufficient counterweight for whatever you're carrying and remember your load in front is sticking out further than you're probably accumstomed to. Good luck; hope the 2200 gives you good service for a long time!
