I shifted a little to hard and heard something give in the gear box. I found a hole in the left axle casting that I can put my thumb in. Pieces of gear teeth had come out the hole.<br>

Any idea what happened? What is it going to cost to fix?<br>

Thanks, Your message did get sent to spam and I finally thought to look there. I keep the tractor in a barn down the road but will go search again for dip stick. I think that it is a problem with not enough oil.

Put a charger on your battery and try the starter. If it doesn't change it's probably the starter, if it does, it could be the battery.

I'm looking at what I thought was a fairly new Kubota tractor. Turns out it's a 1990 B4200 that has been rebuilt to like new condition inc tires. The seller said it was his friends tractor and he was selling it for him. He said it was 16 hp but all I can find says 12.5hp. What's it worth?

I was having a ball moving some brush and smelled a wif of electric burning and a little white smoke ( not even as much as a drag off a cigerette ) and quickly tried to stop and see what was going on and to my suprize it runs so good it won't stop running. So I got it back to the house and cut off the fuel (it took a little while for it to run out). It will crank right back up but won't stop again. I have a parts manual but it don't help much for repairs. Any insite, the key seems to be ok, Is there a relay? I took the wire off to the fuel shut off but that don't kill it to fast either. HELP

It's a gas engine, right? You'll need not just the starter but ignition too. And you don't want shorted wires dangling. So it might be safest and most effective to replace what's failed.
