Shawk--thanks for the info. I was thinking of the lift because I sometimes use the LX4 and mower deck during the same "outing". I will be keeping myiMatch and 3pt attachments. Any comments on power--especially while mowing on hills?

Thanks for the feedback--just be careful of the arms hitting the stops with deck off, my rod was "mysteriously" bent--it may have been from adjusting the height with the deck on and not re-adjusting after taking it off. Todd

Mo--I do have the iMatch, did not cut the shaft. I have not noticed any extra length issues with the LX4 shaft (maybe the dealer cut it prior to delivery?? I'll check with them next time I'm in)Todd

I found the loader to dig fairly well (but I do have a toothbar on mine)in grassy soil, I can dig about 2 feet down--I think that the toothbar gets me an extra couple of inches in that category as well. Boxblading is definitely an art--and I am still learning. I do find it easier to level with the boxblade than a rear blade. Best of Luck. Todd

I've always mowed around the 540 mark on the tach--sometimes seems like a different engine speed depending on how thick the grass is. The gas consumption is certainly higher mowing than plowing the driveway, using the box blade or loader. Not sure how long a tank lasts since I fill mine up after it gets around 1/2 empty.

Well, my iMatch works great on my 48" box blade (Woods) and the JD LX4 cutter, but not so hot on my ballast box--seems like the side pins were a little short, went to TSC and got some longer bushings and everything works fine now. I wouldn't do this with a "working" attachment, but for the box it was a cheap (about $5) fix.

As an FYI--the local JD dealer here sells Peak antifreeze/coolant not the JD brand.

I just went out to the garage to check how mine works. Seems like the steering wheel turns when the tractor is off, and moves the front wheels as well. It is pretty hard to turn, and if you turn it quickly it clicks. Hope this helps. T

Well, here was the process I followed. Sanded off paint from the block in the area that the threaded adapter would attach to the block, drained all coolant into a clean bucket, tapped the plug out of the block, screwed on the threaded adapter, screwed in the actual block heater and then refilled the system. Since I could find no reason to use the "required" governor cover, returned it to the dealer (they couldn't find any reason to use it either). All in all it was pretty simple and straightforward, not wishing for winter to return, but can't wait to test it out!

My dealer said they don't use the break-in oil, and suggested the standard 15-40 (talked with several of the mechanics as well as the parts guy, got the same response). What is the risk of not using the break-in oil? Especially when doing the first change at less than 50 hours?

OK--if you have a good working relationship with your dealer, would they consider letting you try another deck on your machine? Would at least eliminate the deck as the source of the problem, or prove it was the problem. You could go for same size and smaller deck just to compare.

Oops, bet it was great until the oh sh** moment. I've gotten in the mud up to the axles a time or two, the come along is now a permanent fixture in the ballast box so I don't have to walk back the garage and get it.

Any chance there is extra pressure in the hoses themselves? You could try connecting to the "wrong" points just to release pressure. Also, you could try to relieve all the pressure with tractor off, and then try to connect. Assuming (I know I shouldn't) that everything is clean etc., I have had times when working in brush piles that branches have slid the coupler open on me, and gotten very small pieces of bark in there that cause such a problem. Hopefully a real expert will give a better answer!

Chief--thanks, I always did the service on my 425 and was a little unsure of how different it would be to work on this one--but I WILL do it myself. Seems like the jury (and the JD dealers themselves) are still out on the break-in oil based on the comments from Scooter and Mark.
