Check with your Case or New Holland dealer. It is pricey, but it has some advantages. It was designed for skid steer loaders, backhoes, and wheel loaders. Therefore it will be too heavy for compact tractor loaders. Also, your loader bucket will need to have the proper hole spacing on the base bucket edge.

The answer is in the asterisk (*). The 12LA's capacity is measured at the bucket pivot pin. The 7308's capacity is the "operating capacity" which is measured in the bucket. I have been told that the operating capacity on the 12LA is around 750 lbs.

Without knowing exactly what you want to do with the tractor I can't give you specific recommendations. But, I would rule out a garden tractor entirely.<br>
A good, used compact tractor may be the ticket for you. However, be sure that it will be able to do all of your tasks before plunking down any cash. Look into specifics: mowers, loaders, box blades, trailers, etc. <br>
Be sure that you drive the used compact tractor first...pay particular attention to forward/reverse changes of direction (pretend that you are mowing). Older, gear-drive compacts may have an awkward forward/reverse shift pattern. Repeated forward/reverse "shuttling" can be tiresome. A hydrostatic transmission is ideal for mowing because changes in speed and direction can be made very quickly. Be prepared to spend at least $10K for a good, used 20 hp compact tractor with some of your required tools.<br>
However, you sound like the perfect candidate for the Kubota BX-Series or the John Deere 2210. These tractors have opened up a new class of tractor called sub-compact. These tractors are smaller than a compact tractor, but larger than a garden tractor. Sub-compacts have 4WD and can be equipped with real loaders, mowers, and other tools. Best of all, these tractors are not very expensive compared to the price of a new compact tractor.<br>
I would search for a low-hour, used sub-compact. Search this discussion board, there are many people who love and respect their sub-compacts. These tractors are not toys. There is a lot of knowledge & experience floating around on TractorPoint, so maximize it.<br>
The sub-compact market is pretty hot right now. If you find that you need more tractor, you won't lose your shirt in depreciation when trading up...especially if you bought a used one to begin with.<br>
One more thing to keep in mind, your comments indicated that this tractor may be stored outside. If so, it will begin to show age quickly. Don't be afraid of buying a used tractor as a starter.<br>

Don't bother with the HD. Your 1510 will not have the ability to tear it up. The HD is designed for skid steer applications.<br>
Better yet, there are tooth bars designed specifically for compact tractors. Their are even named "Tooth Bar Jr." They are lighter weight for compact tractors while still offering big tooth bar features like T-1 steel shanks for long life. ABC Groff is a dealer not too far from you who can ship them factory-direct. Check under "ATI" or the compact tractor attachments section.<br>
You will love the tooth bar. Its like a boost in horsepower! Plus, it saves wear & tear on you, your tractor, and your loader.

You can get by with the 4710 if you ballast it properly. However, if you are hauling the bales over a distance, the 1000-lb. bale bobbing out there will stress your loader pretty good.
The weight of the tractor itself will come into play. The bare 4710 MFWD tractor weighs about 3450-lbs., while a bare 5210 MFWD is 4730-lbs. That 1280-lbs. of weight will make a huge difference in feel. I guarantee that you will feel more comfortable moving the bales and skids of shavings with the 5210.
However, if you take your time with the 4710, wear your seatbelt, carry your load close to the ground, and don't mind the occassional pucker that you make in the 4710's seat cushion, it will function fine.
It basically comes down to these two things: operator preference & price. You must be the judge.
Let me add these observations to your thoughts. After running a couple of blue, 45-hp utility tractors in the last few months (a NH TN55 and a 3910 Ford), I have renewed my appreciation (lust?) for brawny, utility tractors. They are surprisingly nimble and fun to operate. With routine maintenance utility tractors will be around for 40-yrs. or 10,000 hours, whichever comes first. Think I'm joking? Drive around your area and count the number of farm tractors newer than 10 years old. You won't find many.
Do some cost-per-hour analysis of utility tractors vs. compact tractors figuring depreciation. You may be surprised. While more expensive initially, utility tractors hold their value well, especially considering the decades that they will run. I'm not preaching, these are just some things that have been running around my mind this long winter and now they are beginning to tumble out.
Say what you will about the quality of compact tractors, but their average, usuable life is only about 3000-hrs. That life span is fine for some folks, but not for others.
Choosing favorite tractors is like choosing favorite children. Can it (or should it) be done?

I use a Land Pride and am happy with it.
The Deere iMatch looks to have a handle that is made from shafting, instead of the stamping on the Land Pride. It is easier on the hands. Deere's price is very competitive and should be a better unit than the TSC.
My recommendation: go with the Deere due to the handle design and price.

By the way, Sovema is an Italian company. While I recognize the name, I do not know about their products from first hand experience. But, they probably build mowers for companies who have names that you recognize. There are many US companies that source three-point attachments from Italy. These are usually quality products.<br>
Sovema has been marketing products here in the USA for years under their own name. I wouldn't be worried about using the mower. When it wears out, buy one that you really like.

The 1630 is very similar to the current Boomers. Its horsepower is between the current TC25 and TC29. Gross engine horsepower is 27.3 at 2,600 rpm. The current TC29 uses the same engine, but it makes its 29.0 gross engine horsepower at 2,800 rpm. Translation: same engine spinning faster on the TC29.
The 1630 was introduced around 1996 along with the 1530 (TC25), 1725 (TC29) and the 1925 (TC33). SuperSteer was only available on the 1530 & 1630, not the 1725 & 1925.
New Holland later introduced the current TC range to allow consumers to choose the SuperSteer axle on all four of the tractors.
The 1630 is a very nice machine.

The 4310 tractor may be the better choice if you need the attributes of the bigger tractor. A 25-hp. tractor is just so versatile!<br>
If going with the 4310, choose the larger, 430 loader due to dump height and lift capacity.<br>

Its hard to beat the TC45's SuperSteer option. The maneuverability is simply outstanding! That option alone would make a huge difference in my purchasing decision.<br>
If SuperSteer is not important, don't forget about the Case IH DX45. Its the same as the New Holland, but without the SuperSteer option. Plus, the tractor looks great in red.<br>
The NH/Case IH loader has a bit more lift capacity than the Deere and I like its design.<br>
The Deere 4610 has a better engine, in my opinion. The Yanmar engine is very good and it sounds great. I like the "bark" of a direct injection engine.<br>
The new 4610 Deere has the new eHydro transmission. I, too, am skeptical about the long-term durability of the electronics. (A year ago, my previous car decided to unleash its airbags while on-the-go, with little warning. Thus, I tend to be sceptical about electronic things. The car was "totaled" as a result. A long story, but the cause for the deployment could not be found.)<br>
I've driven an older model JD 4600 and it seemed to hold up well despite that fact that it did not receive much love. (I also have driven a 1,400-hr., L4610 Kubota which felt TIRED. I was not impressed.)<br>
Drive the NH and JD as close together as you can. Better yet, demo both of them on your property, in real-world conditions. My dealer was the one that offered to do that. That is the only way that you will know. Drive them a couple of times if it helps. The last thing that you want to do is buy a tractor and realize that you made the wrong decision.<br>
A few years ago, I drove a new NH TN55 and a new JD 5300 back-to-back at the dealer. My opinion was solidified in seconds. But...that was a different time and a different class of tractor.<br>

The Woods power rake used to be produced by Harley. I do not know if it is still the case.
However, check out a Preseeder landscaping tiller. Its more aggressive, heavier, and depth adjustment can be made on-the-go. I talked to two landscapers who have them the other day. One said that he had 3500 hours on his Preseeder tiller. The other guy has owned his since 1990 and its still going strong. Very durable, long-lasting machines. Both customers are thrilled with them. Harleys are rare in this area due to the strength of the Preseeder tiller.

NH will be replacing the 7308 with the 14LA loader. It should have an appearance like the 12LA & 16LA. That is, the loader frame will follow the same contour as the hood, without the usual hard angle near the top of the grill.
No info on specs yet, but I am told that it will exceed the 7308 specs.

Yes. Actually, your 2406 loader was produced by SMC Corporation from Sioux Falls, SD. SMC produced loaders for years and for many large manufacturers like: Ford, New Holland, Kubota, Kioti & many others. Recently, SMC was purchased by Servis-Rhino which is part of the Alamo Group from Seguin, TX. The 2406 is still being marketed under the "Rhino" brand name. Is your head spinning yet?<br>
The 2406 specs are as follows:<br>
Max lift height: 71 inches w/ level bucket<br>
Lift Cap. to max height at pivot pin: 795 lbs.<br>
Lift Cap. to max height: 550 lbs.<br>
Breakout force at pivot pin: 1711 lbs.<br>
Breakout force: 1128 lbs.<br>
The above specs are from a piece of Rhino literature dated 7/02. Specs are based on a hydraulic system pressure of 2000 psi and 5 gallons per minute.<br>

Yes, I use ear protection every time I mow. Mowing becomes more relaxing with ear protection. Besides, I can hear my cell phone ring when I'm protected!

Mark has some valid points. However, I would agree with Art and say that the 60" bucket would be better. I prefer to have a bucket as wide as the tractor. If I was in your position, it would be the 60" for me.<br>
The Ford 1520 & loader that I use has two buckets, a 48" & a 66". The standard, 48" bucket with a tooth bar is used only for dirt work. This works better for two reasons:<br>
1) It is smaller in size so that you don't get into trouble with too much weight in the bucket.<br>
2) The tractor's power is concentrated on a smaller, 48" width. (More horsepower per inch of bucket.) This is ideal for digging dirt.<br>
The 66" high capacity bucket is used for hauling mulch, transporting tools, moving snow, hauling wood and brush, and even water! (The drought this past summer caused us to use the large bucket to carry water to newly planted trees where a hose would not reach.)<br>
Translation: The 66" bucket is used about 80% of the time.<br>
Your 870 Deere is about 60" wide and is a tractor of decent weight. I would use a ballast box when doing the heavy work. I think that a 60" bucket would be more useful for your manure hauling. Besides, the 48" bucket on the front of that JD 870 would look like a 300-lb. man with bird legs!

Markie61 is correct. The 14LA is also supposed to have an optional, skid steer-style quick attach for switching attachments quickly.
Hold out for the 14LA if you can. Be careful, New Holland will often repeatedly delay introduction of a new product. I know of one product for the 16LA that was delayed for about 15 months! The dealers are at the mercy of what they are told.
Capacities should be higher, however I have heard no numbers.

I have an old JD Grounds Care Purchasing Guide from March of '83. The only snowblower that it lists for the 650 is the 59", three-point model 359. I can't help you more than that.
The guide also has a front-mount for the 400-series tractor, but does not indicate its ability to mount on a JD 650 tractor. Sorry.
Check with the parts department of your local JD dealer. They should have some manuals which would list whether or not the front-mount was an option on the 650. You probably would need that adapter/lift mechanism for the blower to work. Also, be sure that the JD 650 has the front PTO, which was optional on the 650.

I am from SE PA as well. I have driven both the TC33 & TC40. As much as I would love the TC40, the TC33 would work better for mowing the slopes of the retention basin. (A retention basin holds rainwater to keep the Chesapeake Bay clean.) A TC40 felt like I would be sitting too high for safe operation, even though its extra weight would make it more stable.
By the way, I long for SuperSteer. It would be IDEAL for my needs.
If you decide that you don't need SuperSteer, check out the Case IH DX-series tractors. They are the red clones of the New Hollands. The Case IH tractors are virtually identical to the blue ones, except they do not offer SuperSteer, which is a New Holland exclusive.

I talked to a landscaper from MN the other day. He has four skid steer loaders. One is a Bobcat 864 (model 863 w/ rubber tracks), two ASV Posi-Tracks (an RC30 & RC50), and a wheeled JD 7775. He loves the rubber tracks. He said that customer complaints for turf damage have gone down 90% with these machines.
He is expecting to buy another RC50 soon. I guess that is about the best testimony to the rubber tracked machine.
My limited experience with the rubber-tracked machines (playing around during a test drive) led me to believe that the ASV has a smoother, more polished track system over the Bobcat.
I would agree with Lockman that the RC30 is small. If you don't need something that small, you would be better served to step up to the model RC50 or the brand-new model RC100.
ASV manufacturers the undercarriage for Cat. Cat owns a growing percentage of ASV and should own it outright some day.
Rubber tracks better over-the-tire tracks on delicate surfaces like: pavement, bricks, or turf. The rubber does not damage the surface nearly as fast. Also, rubber tracks have lower ground pressure for work in swampy areas. Other than that, over-the-tire tracks tend to be a more cost-effective means of getting work done.
