I have a B2410 and would like to purchase the Kubota front mounted snowblower. My question is this: Does the snowblower mounting brackets require that I remove the FEL mounting hardware or can I just remove the FEL and leave the mounting brackets for it in place. If so, then I would be able to switch between the FEL and the snowblower. I know some of you will suggest that I purchase a rear mount snowblower. I could do that but my driveway is over 1500' and I am not sure I want to be backing up that distance all the time.

I don't know the answer to your mounts question. However, it would be ideal to be able to swap the blower and bucket easily. I guess you have a mid-pto, because the cost of a rear to front kit is pretty expensive. I'm a 3ph-blower fan myself, but I think I'd consider a front blower for a 1500' drive. Plenty of times, I noticed that the tractor and blower would go considerably faster in moderate snows than I'm willing to drive backwards. One disadvantage of a front blower is that the steering is less in close quarters than with a 3ph blower. ....

Hi Denny,

I have a front-mounted Kubota snowblower on my BX2200. I also got the heated cab since I have an 800 foot driveway.

I've never actually changed an FEL to a snowblower so you have to qualify this answer. I have one Kubota 2550GST with FEL and backhoe. I can see how the hydraulic lift for the FEL attaches and I suppose it can come off. "Easily" might be questionable.

On my BX2200 I can see that the snowblower has its own hydraulic lift mechanism and mid PTO shaft extension. The snowblower disconnects in about 30 seconds but all the hydraulics and PTO stuff remains on the tractor. Unless this hydraulic layout is compatible with the FEL (and I appologize here because I bought the BX2200 in the middle of winter just for snow and didn't even consider an FEL so I didn't look that closely) it would have to be removed. Given how it is installed on my BX, I can only think that removing it must be a bear!

Frankly, if I had only one tractor with a FEL and still wanted a frontend snowblower, I'd be looking to see if anyone makes either something that bolts in place of the bucket or is separately powered and mounts out there. In truth, I went through this exercise myself. I use my picup truck for the driveway most times. It is faster, at least until the snow banks get too high and I have to use a blower. I looked to see if I could find a standalone blower that could mount on the plow hitch. For $8K-$10K they make them but it needed a bigger truck than I have because they are so heavy. In the end, rather than muck up my big Kubota I just bit the bullet and got the BX.

As a matter of curiousity, however, if any of you know that a FEL and front-mounted snowblower do swap out easily on a BX I'd like to know about it. I probably won't try it but it's nice to know.
