Awhile back I posted a message on a replacement tractor for my 1020 JD, and thought I'd let you know what happened. I went with a larger tractor out of the compact class, a JD 5210 with 521 loader. It's a great tractor and I'm very pleased with it. It handles all my equipment with ease, and is fun to operate in front of my 1959 JD 14T baler in our 12 acre hay field. The loader has great capacity and is perfect for larger round bales. The choice to buy the tractor was a tough one, there was a 97 model 1070 on the dealer lot and it had low hours with a model 80 loader. The 1070 was less expensive but for my operation I feel I made the right choice.

Lets see....A JD 1020....wasn't that a small 4 cylinder gasoline farm tractor built in the 1960's? What would now be called a small utility tractor? If so, they sure were a cute tractor. I never have owned one, but would like to someday. How does it stack up against the new 5210? ....
