I realize this is summer..no one is thinking snow...but has anyone had any experience blowing snow with front mount 2 stage blower, running off mid pto..on the JD 790.???Or is everyone using rear 3 pt blowerS.Definite price difference bet the rear and frt blowers....I'v used older larger tractors with rear mount snow blowers....and they are literally a 'pain in the neck'..any thoughts from those in the know.Thx, Glen

Interesting thought - I guess you were thinking of mounting a rear mount blower on the front. First the mid PTO rpm is about the same as engine rpm, so you would need to gear it down to 540 rpm, and I'm not sure is the direction of rotation is the same. You would need to get the mid PTO to the front by either going under the front axle or offset to either side. Sounds like a lot of engineering or get a right angle gear box off the mid PTO and use a belt to get to the blower, would be easy to reduce the speed with different sized pulleys. Since I also have a 790, I will be interested in following this thread also. Maybe someone has other approaches. ....

I've heard of conversion kits for bringing rear PTO to the front, but not from the mid-PTO. Of course this doesn't mean anything. Since, I don't have a mid-PTO, I've never looked. If nothing is available, perhaps it's because implements intended for mid-PTO use tend to be pretty specific to a tractor and already come with a PTO hookup.

Yes, 3ph blowers are a pain in the neck. However, I've never figured out how clear snow without using both the blower and the loader. Changing back and forth in cold weather would be a greater pain for me, so I stick with the 3ph blower.
