Turf Gator Backfires

I have a JD Turff Gator with the Kawa engine. It works like a golf cart by pushing on fuel pedal to start engine and throttle. It backfires when comming to a stop. It runs really well otherwise. I have replaced all filters, plug, adj cables, checked the springs to carb and throttle cable. Checked for air leaks at carb and adjusted Valves. Did a leak down test to check for head gasket problem. Need some advise please.
