My DK35 will not go into four wheel drive. I have power at the fuse and switch and the dash light comes on.It worked the day before and I don't believe there is any mechanical problems. Can you tell me what the switch activates, I assume a silinoid, and where it is. Has anyone had this problem with a DK35. Thanks for the help!

If you're sure it's not in 4 (can be hard to tell because often only one front is pulling), can you not just follow the wiring from the switch? ....

Thanks. The wireing goes into never never land and is near imposible to follow. I am not sure if the silinoid on the right side is the one. No it's not in four wheel. Noticed it when I was stuck with the hoe on. ....

There should be an actuator between the switch and the axle. One possibility is you'll have to dismantle until you get to it so you can check that it's working or has power to it. (Could be a bad connection, or a failed part. But you might be able to engage/disengage it manually.)

The other possibility depends on the meaning of a signal telling you it's in 4. If the circuit is designed properly it's saying that the actuator is doing its job -- meaning there's something amiss further down.

You can find the nearest dealer on the Kioti site.

Thank you.

My dealer is just up the road but would like to avoid big bills while they do what I am doing. They said bring it in and we will trace it. At what cost? I do not have a service manual and it appears I need one just to find the silinoid/actuator aqs it is not obvious. Tried the breakers under the hood with no luck. The wireing loom is one big one from the dash. If I could only find things eh. ....

The push-button system uses a hydraulic clutch that locks up to drive it, and while we hope it's just a bad connection there could be several problems in the transition from electrical to hydraulic to mechanical. I think it would be best to bite the bullet because this is a major component of a major piece of equipment, and the hourly cost would be the same if were a lawn mower. ....

I agree with you on this. So bit the bullet and trailored it up to the dealer. The problem is that after talking to the mechanic I find he has no more idea than I about where it is. I had already checked the electrical as far as I could and now they will do the dame at an hourly rate. He did not know where things were. Saying that they had never seen this problem before and were going to trace the wires to find the actualor/silinoid. It would be different if they KNEW where parts were. Thats why I wanted to find out for myself. ....

Good heavens! Does he not have the service manual and parts manual? Or does he not know where THEY are! Can he not phone Kioti and ask? Maybe he doesn't know where the number is.

I'll grant that this may well be a one-of-a-kind fault, and that the most experienced technician facing an unusual problem might start with a head-scratch, but he should certainly know WHERE to go to learn the trouble-shooting procedure. ....

Thanks guys;
I talked to my dealer yesterday and was told that the pin inside the silinoid that pushes a ball bearing to let fluid by was bent. If all the ball bearing does is let fluid by then how would it bend. The pin is in a track/slot? and is powered by an electromagnet to push the bearing? So how does the pin bend? ....

Reasonable questions to which I don't have the answer. You could ask to see the work in progress, which might explain it.

That's such a nice tractor that you might try to buy it a service manual. I should think they would be available, from Kioti if not from the dealer. ....

Wondering how this worked our for Gandalf. I have a 2007 DK35 and am having the same problem. Dealer has had it for 2 weeks ,first thought it was the solenoid, now says it is a broken shaft in the transfer case after removing the bottom plate. Unit only has 240 hours. Bought it with 230 hours last March, used it for seeding, stored it 5 months and have done some light work with it this winter. Did have the clutch frozen to flywheel in Dec when I got back. Now I know about clutch clip.Dealer split it then and now appears it will be split again. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thx ....

Idea 1: Find a lawyer who knows what tractor owners are entitled to expect and ask if you have a cause of action.

2. I won't be getting a Kioti after all. They offer a lot for the money but can be too problematical. ....

Well my DK 35 is now fixed. It took from 1st week of Feb until mid May with shipping parts from Korea twice. Still don't know how the gear in front diff broke or the clip in the rear diff. Kioti comped the parts (about $100) and dealer gave a little break but still cost over $1400. They are letting me leave it with them and pay over 5 months. Will pick it up when I get back in Oct. Should be good now and I would rather keep it than take a chance on another I know nothing about. Sure wish I knew what original owner did to it before I got it. KLarry ....

Thanks for the update. Look at it this way: you got a bargain brand (at least I think so) used, so with the repair costs you're still well ahead. ....

It is not necessary the fault of previous owner. There can be just bad parts. I had gear in one of my Kubota's to loose a tooth and my cost was $1,500. That was oh 6 or so years back. It past any warranty. Was told probably just a bad gear. ....

I have a similar issue with my dk45. So do you still not know where the 4wd solenoid is located? I had the same problem with the engine shutoff solenoid push rod getting stuck. It had been bent and I opted to get it machined locally. The technician said it was a known issue. ....
