I need something to keep me busy this winter and to pay bills. I want to make and sell tire swings made from recycled car tires. There many people doing this. Some designs look like airplanes, motorcycles, and elephants. The sell for $100 to $200 each.

My question is how do I cut not only the sidewalls, but the treads with its wire plies (assuming all tires have wire in the tread---I don't know). Keep in mind that no wire can be exposed to a child whatsoever.

Earthwrks,

My guess would be to use bias ply tires.......or tires designed for use with inner-tubes, as they have no steel wires inside them.

Most farm application tires are not steel belted.

Good luck on your winter project. I hope this becomes a profitable enterprise for you.

Joel ....
