We have a little place on the river up in northeast Iowa that has went begging so far this summer. Problem is that the first time is usually spent fixing whatever don't work and let's pray not a leak in the plumbing, the mobile home manufactutrers seemed to have a tube and fitting size all their own that NO hardware store stocks. One of the greatest parts of the trips to the river is that up there we have NO phone, and cell phones DON'T work. See you in a few days. Frank.

Steve; We are on the Turkey River in northeast Fayette county. Everything did work, no leaks, etc. on the first trip. I'm not much of a fisherman, we just enjoy the river and the community. In fact over just this past weekend we sold the trailer I mentioned an bought a home in town just a bit up from the river to have more of a year round getaway. I have a cousin who called me a total wacko for buying a second home in Iowa, they have one in Florida and can't understand why we want to stay where it is cold for the winter. Frank. ....

Hardwood, there is a little secret the world does not know about. North east Iowa, it is full of little tiny towns that have not changed much in a long time. Nice small "cat rivers" too! And AAhh the Mighty missy! No place on God's green earth quite so sweet as the Missy along the south west corner of Wisconsin and north east Iowa! Hills, hardwoods, farms on the hills and valleys! I love it out there. Me and my wife look for land in that area to retire some day. I have fished from Lake Pepin to Bagley over the years and love it more than the U.P. or northern Wisconsin. The fishing is as good as Canada quite often, sometimes better, but noone knows it. ....

Steve; I'm sure that every region of the country has a spot or two that holds a special place in peoples hearts who grew up there. I grew up and we made our living as "Flatlanders" south of the aeria we speak of, but after having a place on the Turkey for probably 15? yrs. you just can't leave, it gets in your blood. My florida home cousin just don't get it tho, she just shook her head and walked away. You keep ketchin dem der big flatheads, OK, you betcha now, and pass me more of dem curds. Frank. ....
