I was about to buy an electric portable cement mixer when I was told that there are PTO driven models available.Can anyone give me any advice about brands and what to expect to pay for the PTO version?

I can't recall what wet concrete weight a cu ft. (150 lbs. ?). If that's true the 3ph load for a 1/2-yard mixer would be getting around a ton between the wet mix and the mixer itself. It would be good to make sure there's a match between a 3ph and mixer before buying one.

I have a PTO Cement Mixer that I purchased from First Choice along with my first dealer order. Having never used a 3 Point mixer, I decided to try it out so that I could judge it's performance. I hope you do not expect to move the mixer around with a small tractor. The largest I have seen is the Teagle units at .39 yd. They list laden weight at 1800 lbs. My estimation is that the larger unit would be ~ 2500lbs., I don't know of a compact tractor that will lift this weight exept the 4710 and it would be at its limit. ....

The thing to check on these crittters is the dump angle. Many small tractors will not lift them high enough off the ground to get a full dump. ....

Peters: I seem to remember that you were looking for a good-sized PTO mixer that has a plastic rather than steel drum. I imagine that would save a bit of weight and wonder what you might have found.
I haven't seen any, but I wonder if pull type mixers are available for somebody who wants a bigger mixer than their 3ph could manage. I believe that's a common design for lime spreaders. However, I don't know if the ones I seen working are PTO or ground driven. Pull type PTO mowers are around though.

I am still looking for a plastic drummed PTO mixer. There are a lot of pull mixers but I have not seen one that is PTO driven. Most if not all are driven by a separate motor. ....
