I just put money down on a L3130 with LA513 FEL, AG tires & FST tranny for $16,900. Should I be purchasing the LA723 FEL instead for add'l $600? Has anyone had experience with the FST tranny versus HST? I am replacing my 2910 HST with FEL.

Any input would be appreciated!

I have 30 hours on my L3430 FST (standard 8x8)shuttle shift and I love this manual tranny. I also had a problem figuring for the 723 or 513 they tried to sell me. I definitely would get the 723 now that I have one. It is awesome and you can see the spec difference. It is worth the upgrade and it should enhance re-sale if ever you do.
Your gonna be impressed with your package. Good luck. ....

I just signed papers for a L3010HST AG tires, 723 loader with HD bolt on cutting edge, BushHog 9" post hole digger, Provnost rear snowblower, LandPride 7' rake. Lots of rocks in this area. After talking with the salesman I decided on the HST option for ease of use, resale value, and cost of replacing clutch.
If you're used to HST, except for the extra 1.5 HP, why switch? ....

Thanks for the input. I am upgrading from the 2910 because the 3pts arms are 1/2 as thick without support arms like on the 3130. I have broken two pair on the 2910 with various implements. I also didn't like the R4 tires on the 2910 because of lack of traction in the woods and was planning on replacing them with the AG tires if I didn't purchase the 3130. I also wanted a larger bucket on the FEL. In reality the 2910 doesn't at all compare to the 3130 for only $2000 I had to boot. ....

I absolutely agree that the 3130 is a LOT more tractor than the 2910. Didn't realize you were operating the 2910 so close to its limits. For $2000 you got a real deal.
I had looked at 2910 3000 and 3100 series for over a year before choosing the 3130. Size and maneuverability was a main concern, as I will be harvesting firewood with it. After sinking over $600 in truck/snowplow parts last winter, I hope the 3130 is rugged enough for my tasks. ....

You are getting a different type of transmission all together coming from the 2910 to the 3130fst. I do believe in the woods working with logs dragging them that the gear is the better option on the transmission. I would go for the heavier loader for the woods. The money you save from the transmission will cover the heavier loader. ....

Thanks for the feedback. I was a little nervous in purchasing the FST. I think this will be the best choise based on my use in hauling wood & moderate loader work. But I will take your advice in purchasing the 723 FEL. ....
