I am planning on getting a 2710 in the near future and wondering what size trailer I would need. Will have a FEL, bushhog, box, tiller. Thanks in advance!

How many of the implements do you need to transport at once? I have a B2710 with all the implements you mentioned, and I can haul it on my 6' x 16' trailer with both FEL and 5' brush hog on it, but the tail wheel on the brush hangs just off the back end. ....

Bird,

What is the overall width of your trailer? It is a tandem I assume? ....

I would suggest a 18' dove tail. 16' bed and 2' dove tail with 5' ramps. it works great for our little tractors. I hope snow fall is good this year I need to trade mine in for a 24' ....

Cutter, I'm not sure what the overall width of the trailer is (and my brother had it right now so I can't go out and measure it). The 6' x 16' is the size inside the rails (actually if I remember right it's about a half inch narrower than 6'). And yes, it's a tandem axle trailer. I'd consider it to be amount the minimum for our tractors and agree with Dana that an 18' trailer would be preferable. We had this trailer before I bought this tractor and it serves the purpose since I don't trailer the tractor very often. ....

Dana, I also have a 2710 with a FEL carried on a 18ft trailer. Generally the the blade or york rake is on the back. I have hauled it with the brush hog also. My only regret is not getting the dove tail option. ....

What is big advantage of the two foot beavertail on a trailer? It seems as though you just give up two feet of flat surface area. What am I missing here?

Also, for most compact tractors, wouldn't a tandem axle car trailer (2 3500 lb. axles) adequate? I mean one with a solid floor instead of two 'ramps' running full length. ....

Yep, Gary, it's adequate (in fact it's what I have - two 3500 lb. axles), but bigger and stronger is even better. ....

Thanks, Bird. I thought that would be a good way for me to go. I occasionally need to move my tractor from my land to my office lot for snow removal and thought that would do the job for me. Other than that, I'll use it for hauling SUV's and pickups around when I need to. ....

I have a line on a one year old car hauler with a diamond plate steel bed. I is a "semi-dovetail", cut down by the owner and re-welded. It too has 3500# axles, as do most of the trailers for sale in my area. This one is 18' long and I think I can buy it for $1650. It was $2400 new, don't know if I want to go that much, but I like the steel bed as opposed to wood. ....

Cutter, I'm in the trailer capitol of the world here, I think. I see new trailers like you're describing (though not rewelded after manufacture) around here for only a couple hundred dollars more. For less than fifty dollars more than that you can get one with a hydraulic tilt bed. All of these would come with trailer brakes, DOT lighting & reflectors and a break-away box. I thought you could use this info to compare when you're shopping. I hope this helps. ....

If you had a goose neck type configuration, could you "park" the FEL on the top and go with a shorter overall trailer? I have towed a 5th wheel travel trailer many thousands of miles and the design is ultra stable on the road. Seems like you could snuggle the radiator of the tractor right up near the tailgate of a pickup with the FEL resting over the hitch and have a very docile towing load. ....

Mark, I frequently see the commercial rigs just like you said. Gooseneck trailer with TLB on it and the FEL bucket on top. Naturally, that's more stable than the regular trailers. I, too, pulled a 5th wheel all over the country and if I were going to do a lot of towing, that's the only way to go. ....

Cutter, I see them all in a little car trader magazine here. I've included a link to their website but it's not very helpful on a trailer as the search feature is by 'make.' That's great for a car or truck or tractor, but not so much for a trailer when you don't really care about the label.
Given that shortcoming, if you email me your address, I'll try to send you some of the ads and you can follow up that way. I hope this helps. ....
