I will be buying a B7510 within the next 2 weeks. I need help deciding DT or Hydro. Any thoughts? Is the Hydro worth $1100??

I have a 7510 hydro and love it. I can't imaging not having the hydro, especially for brush hogging and loader work, where I change speeds frequently. ....

That is a loaded question as it depends on your uses as to if it's worth it or more! If you are doing PTO and loader work then it definitly could be worth it. ....

If you are mowing only and in a straight line or circle then DT "may" be ok. With FEL(Hydro only) or manuvering around objects and going forward and reverse with any degree of precision then Hydro is only choice. Also if time is of any value Hydro. I didn't understand Hydro benefits until I got one. Would be sick now if I had got HD then tried Hydro. Was mowing a few days ago around a shrub and thought how great this hydro works and how much more work a DT would be and more time consuming. ....

Since I dont have it (and elected not for it) my vote is biased. Put it this way, I have been able to do EVERY thing the other guys (who have hydro) do with my gear tractor. I have a built in cruise control! IMO, is hydro a nice option? Yes. Will your tractor be able to do everything you want it to with out hydro? Yes. It depends on how you look at it. Hydro is NOT something you need but something you want. I am talking about personel use and not comercial.
Again I may sound like I am biased, thats becasue I am. Im about as frugal as they come so the hydro was not even a consideration for me. You know what? I love my tractor and love the way it operates.
You will be happy either way. A grand in your pocket is worth alot to many folks and may be a drop in the bucket for others. PS, I also have crank up windows in my truck LOL ....

I've driven hydros in lots of farm equipment, combines, etc.where you need a precise speed to be most effecient, there also great in lawn equipment, but I've just never liked them in any size tractor. It's all matter of personal preference, If you like hydros that's great, do you need them, no you can do anything with gears that a hydro will do. I'm still kind of a basic fellow, I too have never owned a pickup with an automatic or electric windows. Frank. ....

I quess I feel the same way. I run hydro's on rollers, compactors, skid steers, pavers, Etc.
Just never had much interest in having hydro on my tractor.
Although in gear drive tractors I do much prefer a shuttle or powershift type transmission and syncronized gears over the straight gear/stop to shift type.
Prefer the standard transmissions in my truck also..
Automatic in the family car, but gear in a truck..
....

The 12/12 power reverser would be nice, and its a real nice machine you have it attached to.
Don't get me wrong, I do like hydrostats. And if I did landscaping every day for a living I would likely lean towards hydro.
But for personal/mostly weekend use I just never wanted or needed it bad enough to warrent the extra $$ ....

If you want a MMM with it, and don't mind turf tires, buy the Turf Special package and you'll save enough to get the hydro basically for free. I just bought a 4x4 B7510 Turf Special, Hydro, with the 60" MMM for 10,800. The package shaves about a grand off the price. ....
