Hi my name is Aaron Im 15 yrs old and I live in Missouri, This is my first post so bear with me.We have 40 acres and it is mostly rolling pasture so I would need a tractor w/ a fel and that could pull a 5 ft rotary cutter.SO My dad and I are looking to buy a new compact utility tractor. Now for me it has to be green, but for him it could be hot pink because its all about the price. We have looked at the Jd 790 and many others and we narrowed it down to the 790 w/ fel for14,000$ and the farmpro 2430 w/ fel for 13,200. Now the JD is better looking and it is just reasssuring that john deere has been around for 163 years and that you can take it to any number of dealerships and they will fix it. But how long has farm pro been around???? So can any one PLEASE give me the "pros and cons" of these 2 machines.

Between the 2 mentioned- Go with the JD.
Others I would check out in a similar price range, NH tc 30, Kubota l-3400, Kioti 3054xs.
Any of these I would choose over the Farm Pro (my opinion) ....

jd60kid, I also live in Missouri (near Marshall), and have a 790, FEL, and MX-5 cutter. It's a great machine for the price. No comparison between the two. It's really a no-brainer when there is so little difference in price. Go for the JD. ....

marshall missouri huh where abouts is that? our 40 is in Callaway county. but we live in suburbs in north stlouis county ....

If it were my money I'd definitely go with the 790. It will likely be more reliable with better parts availability, resale value and dealer support. ....

Deere. The farm pro will fall apart, before the deere even gets old. But also look at a kubota. They make a great tractor in that price range. ....

The JD 790 will be prove to be a much better investment over the years. Plus, there are JD dealers everywhere standing behind it. I have a new 790 and smile every time I use it. My neighbors are all jealous... ....

jd60kid, My name is Derek, Im 14,I live in Illinois, and I have a 790. THIS is the machine to buy. I have a mowing buisness and I mow fields with the 790 and use it on my grandpa's farm. For me its got to be the green also. Good luck with buying. Hope you get a 790. ....
