1999 4300 hydrostate trans, tractor has 650 hours on it. When you use the brake or parking brake, they stick. I have tapped the brake arm under the belly back to release them.

any ideas on what caused this? Does this sound like a major repair to get to the brakes ?

Thanks,

It's been my experience that with things like that the problems are usually on the outside of the tractor.

Get underneath the beast and give all the pivot points a good soaking with some type of penetrating oil then work them back and forth a bit.

It's usually just a few years of dust and dirt together with a bit of corrosion causing more friction than the return spring can overcome.

Best of luck. ....

I agree with Murf. The place I see them stick usually is the brake shaft that goes into the final drive(axle) housing. Unhook the control rod and spray around the shaft, then keep working the brake levers(#1 & #7in the attachment) back and forth until they free up. ....

If freeing the external linkages doesn't do it, the next step is doing the same to the internal ones. There's probably two return springs on each shoe to be replaced. ....

Anyone have any idea on what model front loader attachment would work on a 1999 JD 4300 and what I should expect to pay for it used; and/or what's the chance of finding one used? I definently want the quick disconnect type you can drive right into, mine had one on it before I got it so it has the hydraulic valves for this already in place. Just wouldn't use it enough to justify a new one. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill ....

Recommend you post this a new message and not part of this thread for it should get better notice for you. Look for the blue question near top asking do you want to post a new message. Also suggest you title it something simple to your need. Not like need help on loader. ....
