going to be purchasing a jd2210. Would like input on choice of tires (turf or bar). Will be pushing snow w/ loader and mowing 3 acres in summer. How are these bar tires on lawn with somewhat hard clay soil?

labatt1; R-1 tires would be better for snow than R-4's or turf tires. Unless your lawn is really soft the R-4's won't hurt it, R-1's can leave a tread imprint in the turf. Turf's on wet grass or mud are almost helpless, so my choice is the R-4's, I've never regretted having them. Frank. ....

I have turf tires on a B7610 I have 33 inch rear tires so my experience will be somewhat different than on the JD2210 which I think has 23 or 26" inch tires.

With my B7610 with turfs I can remove snow in 4WD with the rear blade and front blower without chains, I have a 12% grade drive and have no traction problems whatsover. Handled the last Blizzard of 2005 with no problem at all.

My neighbor has the BX2230 same size a JD2210 with triple switch backs and 20% slope on a 1500 foot paved drive, he has turfs and has chains on rear, he has no problems, in fact rarely uses 4wd only when needed. He has the worst drive I have ever driven on. Last year it was my job to put tracks on his drive while he was away. I drove my 4wd Tundra up those switch backs in over 12 inches of snow, so I saw why he had given up on plow services doing the job. These little tractors are awesome machines.

If you have a really steep drive and you find you need to add chains, turfs are the better bet as the chains will stick out better giving you a grip in snow.

Originally, I purchased my 2210 with turf tires and they were nice and then when the Industrial style became and option, I purchased them. Since that purchase, the turfs were sold to someone with Ag. Tires and I now use the Industrial Tires year-round. In my opinion, there are no better tires on the market for “overall use”. ....

I would agree that R-1's are good if you are driving through the snow.

Keep in mind, however, that when you are plowing or blowing snow with most implements, you are driving on a cleared road immediately behind the implement. The exception would be a rear blade that you are pulling through the snow.

In these circumstances, you need a tire that works well on cleared icy surfaces, this is not a place where R-1's shine. ....

Do they really make Ag Tires (R1) for the JD2210, With the small diameter of the tires they usually make them super wide and I thought they were actually Bar Turfs. ....

When cruising the JD website under 2210 the "specs" sections calls out the standard tires as R1. Then when you "build" your unit your first choice is either R3 (turf) or R4 (industrial). I agree with Dennis, doubting if an R1 tire is available on this model. ....

I bought my 2210 with Turf Tires last summer. I was worried about snow removal in Wisconsin but thought I'd get rear chains if necessary. I've been pleasantly surprised with the turf tire's response. No need for chains. I use the blower in "float" and get all the traction I want in 4WD. I'd look at other the uses for your 2210 to help determine which tire to choose. ....
