FIRST VEHICLES
What was the first car you ever owned?
What was the first car you and your spouse owned after you were married?

I bought a 1950 Chevy in 1958 when I was 17.
In 1962 I bought a 1960 Chevy Impala convertible.

My wife and I got married in 1964 .
At that time I had the 60 Chevy convertible but still owned the 50 Chevy so these were our first cars.

Both My first and second cars were the first cars of that decade I thought this was unusual and unique.

First car, 1966 Mustang I bought when I was a senior in high school -- teenage boy and American powered V8's might not be the best combination, but those stories are best left off this family site...

When I met my wife she had an 87 Suburban and I had an 87 Toyota -- the first car we bought as a married couple was a 96 Subaru Outback. ....

Geeze,

That was a long time ago, I really had to think.

In '70 i bought my 1st vehicle, a'68 or '69 triumph 650 motorcycle. I was 18.

'71 my first Sportster. back then in order to hot rod you had to build much of your own stuff --- not much off the self at least in the small town i grew up in.

'72 i bought my first Vett, a '67 for 1300 bucks. can you believe it, they were relatively inexpensive in those days ... wish i had held on to some of that stuff.

everything after that is kind of blur --- time sure goes by fast.

those were also the days when you could get 19 tickets and still hold on to a license by attending driving school.

these days not much time to hot rod. although, unfortunately i still mange to get my share of tickets, you can only have 5 in 4 years in the state of wa.

interesting ... couldn't afford the tooling back then, but always figured out a means of making something work. today i have all the tooling and equipment, way more knowledge with no time to use it. does make one go hmm ---

Then too todays new members and visitors weren't around when that one was going around and probably missed it.

Here is a picture of a 1950 chevy just like my first car right down to the color and being a 4 door sedan.

In 1966 I bought a 59 Impala and while I was waiting to turn 16, I ripped the 283 out and shoved in 348, I and a friend would sit one the drivers side and work and two others would sit on the other wheel well. The neat thing was if you dropped something, you could see it.
It had a Voltage Regulator on the firewall if the coils were covered in a chalk like poweder, replace it for $4. It had a Generator, a Distributor. a coil, and a 4 barrel carb. It also had oil in the water and water in the oil when done. I re tore it apart sprayed black lite crap in it and never did find a crack. Put it back together and ran it for about 5000 miles and sold it for twice what I paid. $350.
I next had a 64 Falcom with a 170 Special, ran that until I went in the Marines. Came home bought a 67 Mustang in 72 and a 70 AMC Hornet SSt with a 304 in 73 and from there Dodge.
I look under the hood now, close it, go in the house pour a Brandy, go to Usedcarparts.com and hope and pray somebody has an idea what that hose is for.

Not my first cars but, At one time (when I was 180 I owned a 1977 Pontiac TransAM, I believe it had the 401 (give or take) White with the big RED and Black Bird on the hood! HOT HOT HOT! All I can say, BUT, (Back in the day) I couldnt afford to drive it (JUST ANYWHERE) So I used that car as my chick pick (erupper) and my trusty old Pinto (1979) was my main mode of transportation. THIS how ever was ALSO white and RED. A cool sun roof and Red interior (Just like my TA) Could you imagine if you were a LAdy that I may of hooked up with on a Friday night (late) and gave a ride home in the Trans Am (white and red) and then the next Day maybe she see's me driving a with and red pinto? LOL Bet she woulda gave up drinkin for good. Figure maybe she was dilusional or something eh? ....
