Police make mistakes, no dought about that, they are human and in many cases under a hell of alot of stress and pressure from all angles. If they use any force at all on a minority the video cameras start rolling. If they use too much force they are under suspition. If they dont use enough force and have a weapon took from them they are dead,wounded or wrote up for letting this happen. If they stop you, they were wrong, you didnt do it, if they dont stop the guy infront of you, they were wrong. If they are going to a call with out lights and sirens (for obvious reasons in some circumstances) and they pass you or turn on his lights at the stop sign and blow thru it, then the idiots say," he is abusing his powers probably late for supper. If they shoot some one for ANY reason they are under investigation and on desk duty till reviewed. If they even pull their gun, they are reveiwed . (Thank god for pepper spray eh) If they are on the side of the road doing paper work, then folks say," they are sluffing off" If they stop too many, then they are assholes. If they put their hand on their gun (for their safety) then they are intimidating or over using his power. When off duty if he steps in to break up a fight, folk say he is throwing his weight around. If he does not step in on a altercation off duty then he is not holding up the honor of the job. He arrests someone and is told by the cuffed crimminal that when he gets out of jail he is going to rape his daughter, screw his mother, slice up his wife etc etc. But god forbid if he makes a mistake.
One thing we all need to remember is that a very high percent of these guys just want to go home after work. Yes there are a few that feed on getting involved, that is the exception to the rule. How many of you would like to be able to lose your career, (Not your job but your entire career) if when off the clock you dont do something right or worse yet, you make a wrong decision trying to help someone else? Just about NONE of us here have any idea what kind of pressures theses guys go thru day in and out. Every time you stop someone you may DIE! EVERYTIME! You have no idea what this guy just done that maybe is the reason he is passing a car and speeding. You stop him for this and he thinks your stopping him for the crime he just done.
Yes it's easy to rip on the police, if your car is getting broke into and you call and they dont get there right away, or your wife hears something downstairs and calls 911, cowering in her bedroom hoping they get there imediately. Funny how the only time we like the police is when we need them.
Not saying you are not right in this instance, I am saying that all of a sudden the topic has took a turn towards bashing the police and many of them are bad. Remember that the next time you see lights turning on and off in your house from the street and have to decide if you want to go in there and stop this guy yourself or if you would rather call that cop that dont know what he is doing and took that test 3 times before he finally passed?

Sounds alot like many buisnesses. This is pretty much common practice in the USA. No loyalty on either side of the fence. When you think about the succesful company's many of them do not practice this form or employment and are rewarded with lyal employees which then puts the team work back in place. Look at our last superbowl champs 3 out of 4 years. Not really any super stars on the team but a heck of alot of good players playing together as one.
The whole country should look at that just a bit harder.

I am considering a CK 20. Have been looking at the Kubota B7610. Locally the the CK can be had for $750 less, plus a little better interest rate, and the dealer is close. The loader specs look pretty good. I wish it had just a few more hp's, not that I feel sure that I will need them, but you never know. The CK 30 is too big for me, I feel sure. Any opinions of this tractor and its' capabilities would be much appreciated.

Another option might be an Antonio Carraro tractor. The TC 5400 or TC 8400 could be a pretty good fit for your needs. Both tractors are powered by a Detriot Diesel 3 cylinder motor, with the 8400 being turbocharged. The 5400 is rated at 48 HP while the 8400 is rated at 68 HP (both at 2600 rpm). The low profile design of this Italian built tractor is perfect for working under tree braches, yet it can still deliver a significant amount of grunt for heavy chores.

You can equip the tractors with either a Roda or Sigma FEL. The tractors are MFWD, have 16 forward and 16 reverse speeds, and an independent PTO with electrohydraulic engagement. They pack a lot of features and power in a physically small package.

I've allways liked Land Pride equipment. It's given me good service and their dealership network seems to be well oganized for parts and service. Deere and Woods both make fine equipment too, but I'm just not as famillar with them. They've got a website showing their line of equipment.

funchy; Yes farm field drainage tile are commonly used in our aeria to take away excess water. Long as you have a creek or ditch low enough for the outlet tube a tiling contractor can likely help you out. Depending on the type of soil they are usually about 3-4 ft. deep spaced in paralell lines from 50 to 80 ft. apart. Check with your county extension office, they'll help you finding the people you need. Frank.

I was just wondering the proper practice for starting my tractor, i got it yesterday. this morning i went to start er up, took ages. i preheated for about 45 secs probably, decomp lever out turned her over, pused in the decomp and she went, chug chug chug about 20 times then stopped. did the same again, nothing, preheted loads, then away she went. the first time it went chug chug chug there was lots of smoke but when it finally went there was little.<br>
so whats the proper way to getr it to start first time with little smoke?<br>

The 3015 Mahindra, like some of the other small Mahindra line are formerly the CubCadet Mitsubishi line. I have a Cub 7234 and other than red paint they are almost identical. I've wondered the same things about a turbo on a small diesel. How long will they last, is it something else to go wrong, etc.

I think everything depends on the site, that is the only variable. Wet ,dry,sunny,shaded,elevated,low? you get it.<br>
Now take control of the variable to eliminate trouble down the road. The way to do that is to make the site higher if needed to drain storm water,get down below any frost,IMO the most effective way is a 4-6 foot frost wall and a perimeter drainage of stone and pipe and fabric.<br>
Now the rest of the methods are shortcuts to avoid this expense.They may or may not work in your area. Believe me<br>

The next guys site isn't quite drained the same and one year the frost shoves one of his posts through the roof. Now the repair costs more than the frost wall. Pour a wall four feet below grade and at least<br>
18" above grade with anchor bolts every 3-4 ' and build yourself some thing that will appreciate in value and not need maintenece for a long time. The concensus around here is the new PT will last about half as long as the old formula.Notice this chart stops at 14 yrs. the new formular drops like a rock in the 15th yr. Not sure if it is the same product you are dealing with? But I think it was a fed EPA rule?<br>

Well the weather cleared up nicely while I was having my morning cup of coffee. Turned into a nice sunny day, so I got quite a bit of plasma cutting in today. <br>

I've uploaded some pictures of a circle cutter jig I built for my plasma cutter, and some pictures of cutting out wheel weights.<br>

I should describe this plate of steel I am cutting up a bit better. Forgot to get a good picture of the whole thing but this will give you a pretty good idea: It is about 19 feet long, by 58 inches wide. One long edge has a four inch edge rolled down, and the opposite edge has a four inche edge rolled up, but tha tedge has a about a five inch deep notch for about six or seven feet in the middle of the long side. Welded to the bottom side of the plate are three long pieces off angle iron, 3" x 3" x 1/2" thick, about sixteen feet long, and welded across one end of the plate were two pieces of angle stock, 3" x 3" x 3/8" thick, 56 inches long. This was one well-reinforced piece of steel! Fortunately, the angle stock was only welded on with stitch welds, about two or three inches of bead every foot or two. <br>
<br>
In order to take the angle stock off, I first gouged out most of the weld bead with the plasma cutter gouging tip. This removes pretty much all of the weld bead, but leaves a thin smear of a weld down in the root of the joint. In order to help separate this, I took a 1/16" thick x 3" diameter air grinder and gouged a bit more of this weld smear away and then was able to get a 3" inch wide broad chisel into the crack with a hand sledge. After a few whacks, there was a loud "BANG!" as the last of the weld popped apart. From then on, once I had some prying force into the gap, I could go back and gouge out more weld and each weld would "BANG" itself apart, sometimes requiring a bit more encouragement from the local application of a broad chisel and sledge. <br>

Using that process, I removed one of the 56" cross angles the other day, and this moring I removed the other one, and also removed one of the 16 foot long pieces from the underside with the whole plate lifted up on cinder block stacks of two blocks high. I was very careful to have everything well blocked before getting under it to work, and they used a lot of caution as that 16' length of 1/2" thick angle iron started to separate. But with all of those pieces removed, it left one long edge free to begin cutting circles. <br>

I did take some pictures of the circle cutting. The first three are taken through a piece of plexiglass, so they are a bit cloudy. The first two shots are from about three feet away, and the third is about eighteen inches from the torch (all with self timers). The fourth shot is of my work setup with three disks cut out. I went on to cut three more for a total of six disks. <br>

Is the distance to the walmart a good thing or a bad thing? We're now Walmarted to death here in Maryland -- with 2 new huge Walmarts going up this spring in my rural county alone. They won't quit till every zipcode has one.

I am still doing my homework on this. Parts of the carolinas look nice in photos but I need to visit. I like the look of WV but the mining industry has destroyed the health of some big areas, so I'm undecided. Ky is supposed to be good for horsefarms (I have horses). Georgia is warm without being an oven like areas farther south. But then again the midwest praries look so peaceful and open. How to decide where to begin to look?!??

I think with the help of everybody, I have decided to go with the shuttle shift. I will be trading in my 2003 NH tc-30, for a TC 40, with a 16a loader, folding rops, r4 tires, 72" quick attach bucket and a deluxe 3 point.

I need to know how to maintain my JD 420U. I have the shop manual jd-201 but in fails to tell what maintaince should be done and how. What fluids and where? Is there separate fills for the final drive? Do the hydralics and the transmission mix? Whare are the fill and drain plugs? The engine maintaince in not a problem, it's the rest of the unit I need help with. I could fumble along but I sure could use some advice

While we're on this social - civil debate thing, one of my pet gripes is with these folks who make the claim that there's something sacred about the human life form and that humans are some how more entitled / deserving to an existence above all other life forms. Just think about this stupid claim for a while.<br>

Things could be made very simple if folks would just honor the simple rule, "if it doesn't belong to you don't screw with it". That's what I was taught when I was a kid. If you do screw with it there's consequences!<br>

The world population is about 7*10^9, the US is about 300*10^6, (if I remember correctly) --- I'm quite sure a drop in human population of several hundred million would make for better living conditions in general. Imagine a minimum of 10 acres between neighbors. There really are just too many rats in the cage. The crux of most social problems!<br>

Having said all that, a full out gun battle in down town NY probably wouldn't be that big a deal. Wouldn�t be enough life lost to decrease the world population substantially. <br>

I would also give the dealer a gentle chewing out for selling you such a piece of crap. How do they get away with it? Document all your problems and conversations and start hitting every tractor/RTV site you can find and let everyone know what a piece of crap the Kubota is and the total lack of support.

I'm 100% positive it is special glue (not really a cement which is a solvent a.k.a. "welding") for underground. Constant moisture on the outside of the pipe attacks the glue, and that it's under pressure (sprinkler system) doesn't help. Is your underground piping under pressure? If not then I wouldn't worry. I was working next to a plumbing supply house and they knew what I was working on so they gave me the heads-up. As I recall, the glue was green-colored probably for inspection purposes (the primer was clear), not clear like aboveground (purple color is also for inspection but it's for the primer). I use the term "glue" because the fittings weren't "welded" together becoming one material. I found that the pipe fittings were not made of the same, identical material (pipe has small airbubbles in it from the foaming process when it's extruded the fitting are molded and have no detectable air bubbles). I found this out when I mis-fitted some pipe to the existing fittings; I used a propane torch to CAREFULLY burn or melt the old pipe and the fitting was ok!--it didn't melt as fast. So the joint was "glued" together rather than "welded".

I agree with the psots about utility easements. I had one realtor try to sell me 170 acres of "prime building land"---we walked it and found that nearly 70 a. was easements. I spoke to the power company and they said that there was actually another parallel easement for future power lines that wasn't indicated on the land (we were looking at the area that had been cleared of trees). Also he said we couldn't build within the "tower fall lines" which is beyond the easement---250' each way. And EMF was a concern---in another part of the state where the power lines were somehwere around 14,000v and relatively close to ground a dump truck raising its bed got 4' from the lines and exploded! So EMF does have an effect if it can jump 4'.
