Never seen a board like this in my life. Have to register, ok... Tons of ads, almost tolerable... AND then you have to pay for a premium membership to see the entire posts. Survey says, there are too many sites for free and better at that. C-ya there!

It must be that 'new' math again, I still don't get it.

I just looked a an 'other' tractor board, a pretty popular one, and there was 10 ads on the main discussions page.

I only see 4 here on the main discussions page.

60% LESS ads = "Tons of ads" ????

I just don't get it. ;-) ....

Nothing's free in this world. And I hope Dennis is making money hand-over-fist as he should. Numbnuts like this a__hole who come late to the party always feel they should be the one making the money---even though they can barely wipe their own ass.

No reasonable (read: sane AND sober) person would a.) spend the time to leave a message like that and b.) even think of such.

Like Oneace says, "Good riddence".

Years ago a pastor said that if you were looking for the perfect church, please don't join ours (then it won't be perfect because of your sorry butt).

I'd prefer to keep my money here in the states than have it show up with an airliner piloted by Al Kayda.

But I'm jis' sayin'. ....

What's even more typical is a 'made up notion' without any reference pointing to the facts that prove it. i.e. where is the survey pointing to the better free sites? (I thought that only occurred on the major news networks.)

I posted a question here and on another site that seemed good about a grain drill a while back. Now that site did not have the great Art White (worth more than the cost). The two replies I got there were okay, but very little info. I guess I got what I paid for.
As someone (EW I think said) as least I know this devil! I realize there can be dumb answers here and they are free but there is really some great info. I often will read on threads that hold no current interest to me, just to learn and laugh.

As to OSMA, how did you know it is not CITGO he works for? ....

You get what ya pay for. I've always gotten good advice form the members on this board. But then, that's why they are here. They have the knowledge and experience and this is what interests us. We all have very similar interests, beer, tractors, property, blowing things up and laughing at each other's stupid escapades. Besides, Murf's stories about Deputy dog (if I remember right) always crack me up. You don't get those anywhere else. ....

Howdy all,
I was wondering where exactly to post this this and then I came across this thread and thought it would be a perfect place to write my first message post.
I would like to thank everyone that has taken the time to comment, advise and offer assistance to us that have bought a tractor but who are still learning about it. I have "snuck" in to read postings when I was considering what tractor to buy and read tips about maintenance and tractor ownership problems. I got to do this for free (not a bad deal). I also got fantastic information on other subjects besides tractors and implements for free. So you may ask why am I paying to become a member and not just keep reading partial posts as an anonymous "member"? Well number one is the fact that I have received so much valuable information from this site that I thought the very least I could do is help support and make sure that this site stays up and running. I have had the pleasure of getting to "know" the main contributors to the posts and have observed how new folks to the site are treated. So without rambling too much more thank you again and I'm looking forward to now reading ALL the posts! I will contribute if I know what I'm talking about. I will post on the N.H. board concerning my tractor wiring problem and the customer service I received.
Thanks ya'll ....

WELCOME LES!
Lets see,19/364= .05 cents a day. Now if you come to the site 3 times a day its like,,1.7 cents a day, Hmm come back to the sight a few more times a day and you may just recieve a check from Dennis.
Yep, we all come from different background and we all don't always see eye to eye but thats what makes this sight tick,,, we all "dont know it all" like the other sight members and we all dont tell each other that every day.
BTW Oneace::: You sound a it testy? Cmon now, dont hold it in, let it all out? Say whats really on your mind about that poster? LOL ....

SG,
Welcome to the site "LesinTexas". Just what this site needed another good ole southern boy

How do you rate the job of improving EW as a transplant? Any idea how many more good Southerners it will take? One day he will be hit like a ton of bricks when he realizes, it is great here. Hurricanes, skeeters, ticks, slow talking, slow moving slow living and being able to enjoy it. Almost forgot, gators. Wonder if he will survive without 10 feet of snow? ....

And gators and stuff--and those are good points, right?

10 feet of snow, naw we (they hahaha) get about 3 feet south of Detroit or as the Louisina coonasses 'roun' he-ah say, "De Twa"

Now that I have sold my snow plow to a fellow yank, does that earn me a place in the Good ol' boys network? ....

All,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I have had the "pleasure" of dealing with folks around the world due to my old internet provider selling their e-mail service to another company. I'm trying to get used to the fact of "out-sourcing" and everything being made in china, assembled in Mexico and sold here. I'm not knocking any of the workers that have been given the opportunity to improve their lives. But dang, is there a remote chance of a shift from service based economy back to a manufacturer based economy?
I mean I just got back from the grocery store and saw that sausage casings are now processed in china from American pork and shipped back here!
Anyways, thank you all for the welcome wagon of e-mails and I really look forward to reading ya'lls comments and jokes. You really know how to make a person welcomed.

Les, surely you jest about returning to a manufacturer-based economy. Shoot, I'm a one-man-show contractor and can't find dependable, affordable help. They want $15-20 a hour and know nothing, either drink or do drugs, or want to work half-days. Even the the americanized mexicans here cleaning up Katrina are asking for and getting $15 an hour. But the longer they are here the more they become like us. And who can blame them. When in Rome do as the Romans. ....

Hey, I'm as frugal (i.e., cheap) as they come. I put off paying Dennis for years, and realized all of the valuable info the members have provided to me is worth much more than the subscription. How much would I have paid for diagnostics on taking my tractor (simple fix, I forget who told me) to the dealer, never mind the expense of getting it there? And since many of you have similar experiences, lives, etc., I can come here for insight on even something like well water issues!
Dennis, don't raise the rates....:) ....

Seems to me I asked about Paw Paw a few thousand posts ago. We did not have as many southerners on the board as do now so all I got was a lot of snickers.
Well I found some in the woods this year and tagged them. As soon as it gets a little cooler I will transplant them on the farm.
Naturally we had the other kind around here longer. The retired friend normally eats here once a week. ....

Sorry to give it away Earthworks and have missed most of the threads lately but Paw Paw is a city in South Western Michigan and the home of many grape vineyards. It has rolling landscapes and gets some winds and moisture from Lake Michigan making it an ideal locale for growing fruit. Most of Welches Grape juice comes from there plus atleast a half dozen vineyards. In addition to that, apple and peach orchards are abundant. ....

Peters
I don't think we have the Paw Paw tree in Coastal South Carolina. All this Southerner knows about it is the song "picking up paw paws and putting them in a basket" and Jerry Clower's stories about them.

As to EW and his Paw Paw, they have standards that must be met...
Ole EW, did you know if a cat has kittens in an oven they are not biscuits? Just moving to the South, don't make one a Southerner. It just makes them a DY. If you don't know the difference, it normally signals which one a body is. LOL

If TEMPMEMBER is still reading this, bet he can not understand how his comments did not insult, just turned into a good friendly conversation. ....

KT: I gotta tell ya, that explains why I had fur balls all last week after having dinner at your house!

Letting the cat sleep in the oven...that's (gag) just (gag, cough, cough) GROSS! I can't imagine where the DOG sleeps. Never mind---DON'T wanna know.

Actually, if anything, I figured you guys would let the dog sleep in the oven--which is how you got "hot dogs".

But then again, "biscuits" wouldn't be as roll-on-ground-holding-my-side-laughing funny

(I still don't get it: biscuits? Errrr?)

Wow! With all this banter about damn yankees one could hardly believe this is "friendly conversation" hahaha (hmm... didn't WE win the war?---but who's counting...YOU guys ARE ha!). And yes, every few days I'm asked if I'm a damn yankee or just a yankee. I now know the difference. And yes, I don't know when to go home. But here's something to ponder over when eating your paw paws and dinking sweet tea in one hand and a beer in the other hand---and that's at the church pot-luck dinner no less--and don't forget the shrimp bowls (that's how it sounds to me: "bowls" but I t-h-i-n-k they mean "boils" 'cause they don't use bowls--instead they dump it out on a table and you fend for yourself between the flies and hornets---those black specks---they ain't pepper)

If we yankees do go home---who's gonna do all the technical work requiring expensive equipment (for free)? "Mexican backhoes" only work for so long. And no, that type of "worker" was "abolished" with the war WE won. But come to think of it, sometimes I feel like one---wait, wait. That's not right. Sometimes I feel like a "non profit organization" 'cause they all want a "hand out"...errr... a "hand up" (yeah, right) ---that's their tale and a monkey swings by his.

But I'm jis' sayin'

Yer turn!

p.s. Kenny: See (cough) you for (gag) Thanks (cough) giving for dinner (gag)?

....

Ken; In terms of Paw Paw knowledge in the south or north you would not be alone. I only found one person locally that knew what they were and he was the forester in Fayette county. They grew wild all the way to southern Ontario, but most of the habitat has been distroyed. If you look at the distribution map I think you are right unless you are right next to the North Carolina border.

EW; I thought all the hair balls were up north with the other hosers. ....

Hair balls up north? Couldn't find anything on Wikipedia on that one other than references to cats and dogs. Buuuuut if bet the farm on this one I'm prrrretty sure that was a yankee knock---which would hurt----if I had feelings LOL! And hosers, hmmm, do you maybe mean Hoosiers---as in Indiana. Peters: Keep in mind hat parts of Canada are actually south of parts of Michigan.

"Looser" as in "not tight"?
Or "loser" as in "not the winner"? :)

We don't want to offend Murf now, do we, eh?

But I'm jis' sayin' ....

Me offended, nah, not gonna hapen, not here anyways, LOL.

EW, just to correct you slightly on your geography.

The southern parts of Ontario are south of the Oregon / California border, never mind Michigan.

Best of luck. ....

EW We did not call Murf a hoser or a hair ball. Although I did get called worse in another post, but then that nut chews on anyone that does not agree with his fixed opinions.
Being a Canuck myself in the land of the all night barbeque the term could as easily refer to me. ....

Murf I'm referring to the southwestern portion of Ontario that juts under the east shore of lower Michigan--it's south of us. Suburban Detroiters kiddingly tell Windorsites we're north of them.

Hey, is Canada still a suburb of the US? That's a reference of the '90's when Canadian nurses and engineers crossed the Ambassador Bridge into Michigan for high paying jobs--as if they were neighbors just crossing over the bridge on thier way to work, or when they parked their RV's in K-Mart parking lots when your dollar was worth more. ....

Somebody asked me if I had a computer on my dashboard or if I was a Union worker---first, can't say the word "Union" 'roun' he-ah as in "The War" (an' the Union winning). And, I'm self-employed. And we have had 2 straight days of rain about 6" worth. Roads are flooded with about 8" of runoff, and we're only 4' above sea level. Sooooo it'll be a few days to a week until things dry out enough to walk to the truck. Until then--I'm a shut-in with a computer and a conncetion to the Net---so look out! ....
