Hi I have a SD2600 three cyl diesel that starts easy, runs good no smoke or miss, but it has oil in the radiator. I have checked for an oil cooler or trans cooler and there is not one. Could the hydralic pump on the front of the motor have a bad internal shaft seal letting oil into the block? Also where is the hydralic oil filter? is it behind the plate at the front of the seat that has the pressure regulator for the three point hitch on it? Thanks for any and all help, new at this. Great site.

What's an SD2600? A Shibaura?

Oil in the coolant is usually from a leaking head gasket but your other questions are for somebody who knows that make, whatever it is. ....

Hi auerbach, thanks for responding. Shibaura is a Japanese manufacturer of not only their own line of tractor but also build tractors for Ford and New Holland. A SD2600 is the same as a 1710 Ford. I first thought of the head gasket but there is no miss, smoke from the stack, lack of power or water in the oil. I did a pressure test of the radiator and over night it lost 5 pounds. I hate to pull the head and find out it could be something else. ....

Oil going into the coolant is better than coolant getting into the oil, but the latter can be hard to detect as the water gets emulsified and vaporized. If you can pressurize the rad, note the coolant level and the oil's, leave pressurized, and then see if the levels show coolant entering the block. With such low pressure at work, that's all the justification you'd need for replacing the HG. ....

The SD2600 isn't the same as a 1710 Does the radiator bubble when the tractor is running? If a Shibaura overheat, a cracked head is a common problem. ....

Thanks for the reply, no there is no bubbles in the radiator or pressure buildup if you hold your hand over the neck. I drained the oil and there was no sign of water in the oil. I have a ford 1710 shop manual and with the exception of a few control items the drive train appears to be the same. Kubota diesel uses a hollow pin in the head for the oil feed to the head and if you forget to put an "O" ring on the pin it will leak oil, and I was wondering if the Shibaura uses the same method of oil feed. I has got to be in the pressure loop to push oil into the water. ....

It just has a head gasket. No oring. I would say the tractors are of a similiar design. the parts are not the same. ....
