I have a Shibaura model SP1740 three cylinder diesel tractor. It is a good tractor, but the hydraullics that operate the three point hitch need work. The hitch will raise my implements, but the implements settle down as soon as I put the switch in the neutral position. Also, hydraulic fluid leaks past the hydraulic fill plug. Do you have parts and/or suggestions how to correct my problems?

Hi :

I have one of those Shibraua tractors to....mine is the SD1643 Model 3 cyl diesel loader and gannon. I seem to have the same problem with my gannon settling down as well.
On my early 80's model there is a round nobb just below the seat, if you turn it to tight it may stop or slow the three points hitch from falling . Yours may be different, I don't know. If you got hyd fluid running out your fill plug it could be its a bit to full....do you have a dip stick near the dash or close to your shifter ? You are a lucky guy because you got one of the best rice burners the japs made. Mine is like a small bolldozer, built very heavy duty and more powerful then any other tractor of simular size. Well worth fixing. Also could be as simple as a hyd filter , Have you changed it before ? Anyhow let us know what you find.
I also live in Az
Have a Great Day !
Mike ....
