pulling a box blade and just bogged down,(FELT like I was hung up) both gear levers will shift, tractor will roll either away when clutch depressed, but the instant you release the clutch the engine will choke off and tractor will NOT MOVE. I pulled cover plate off, all gears look good, but there is not a "live" gear turning when engine is running. suggestions appreciated.

Rackmaster,

Is it possible that you have two gears engaged at the same time? That's what it sounds like to me.

Check your shift forks to see if one of the roll pins hasn't fallen out, preventing you from shifting out of that gear.

On most manual tranmsissions, when two gears are engaged at the same time, it locks the transmission up solid.

where is the shift fork located as related to the shifters?, when i pulled the inspection plate off, there was 4 blocks that the knob fit in, they were on rods that slid back and forth, with indentions that had steel balls that helped keep in that position.
under all that was a "pile of gears"
all attached in some way to a main shaft that went all way thru transmission.
, an idea where I could get a book on this tractor?
, an idea where parts dealers are? ....

Rackmaster,

Unless something is actually broken, you probably won't need a manual, nor any parts.

I doubt that a manual would do you any good anyway, as they rarely provide anything useful when it comes to figuring out the theory of operation of the manual transmission.

thanks,
i found a parts manual at southern global and ordered anyway.
I also have someone with some experience looking at it for me, some things just take experience instead of books. most of the time, it is better to have both.
