i have a ford 1500 that has a hydraulic problem with the 3 point. the hyd's work perfect when the tractor is cold, you can get 2 maybe 3 lifts on it just fine, then it stops lifting as high and within 5 min of running it will not lift at all, does anyone have a solution to this problem, i am very mechanically inclined and know i can do the work myself if someone can point me in the right direction of what needs attention

I'm not familiar with that model but generally this might be caused by restricted hydraulic flow. Have you ever changed the fluid and filters and cleaned the screen? ....

The pump is on the right front corner of the engine. It is gear driven.

I assume the valve in front and below seat is open.

As Ken suggested. I would check the condition of the oil first. If memory serves me it only holds about 5 gal.

I would check the pick up screen while oil is out of tractor. Mine was 3/4 full of metal filings. There were many round corners on the gears I suspect.

Just guessing that when shut off some of the blockage drops off and picks back up when used.

If that does not solve problem. Get back on here I don't have the manuals but it's not complicated.

Good luck Harvey ....

Sounds to me like the pump and oil are cool enough to casue the pump to make up for wear, then as the oil and/or the pump heat up the pump loses pressure.

Or something is going into bypass, causing aerated oil leaving a pump losing pressure. ....
