We are planning on replacing our Ford 850 to get:
Live PTO (allows better snow blower, brush hog, roto-tiller operation)
4x4 allows better operation with deep snow removal
Power steering (to make it less of a chore to operate).

We are looking at a Satoh Stallion (35hp, 4x4, loader, etc) as an economical option which seems to fit the needs.

Our main deterrant in buying the Satoh is that it is a 24 year old tractor. Only a few scattered dealers seem to deal in Satoh/Mitsubishi parts and even those make the parts availability look pretty slim for the Stallions (based on their web sites).

The big American names (Ford, JD, etc) make owning their aging machines less risky because of good parts availability.

I assume that the typical consumables (filters, clutch, brakes, etc) are still available.

But are major components available? Like:
PTO output shafts.
Front/rear axle parts.
New pressure plates.
Transmission parts.
etc

The Stallion has an Isuzu Diesel engine.
Can I expect to find rebuild kits, injection system parts, pistons, etc for it?

Were there enough Satoh tractors sold in the US to supply a used parts market, and enough still in service to support the aftermarket parts business for many years into the future?

Is there a bona-fide Satoh/Mitsubishi parts supplier in the US that really can get most of the parts for their older tractors (possibly from Japan)?

Are Satoh Stallions respectable enough tractors to make the need to worry about major repairs a small worry?

I appreciate your advice.

The only dealer I have ever seen for them stopped years ago. I would not invest in it. Now if free... ....

I could add more names to a list as a dealer. For some to have to wait for parts or to chase a parts source is not a problem but for the people that often are buying they don't care about the parts because they count on the dealer. Nice or not to speak to or work with when the dealers supply systems start to fail they have no control over them.
I learned 20 plus years ago with a major brand that they had little control over company that they bought their compacts from for parts supplies. Sure did wake me up! ....

Art, even in my business I can fully relate to what you are saying. So many customers have no idea the impact the local sales people have. ....

Parts for this tractor are not a big issue. We have many of the parts you list in stock, including a good supply of engine parts. We have good wholesale sources. We have three salvage tractors for parting out. In sum we probably have more parts in stock for this tractor than anyone in the country. Bill - Satohparts.com 1-800-609-5110. Bill ....
