Does anyone use the black so called "heavy duty" loader bucket? The dealer is trying o sell me one over the standard one at about $100 dollars more. Is it owrth the extra $? I want the 61 bucket for a new 430 loader on a 4310.

bob: spend the extra $, and you'll never regret it. I've had 4 compact JD's. Each time i got the std bucket and the dealer didn't mention the hd option. So then i went out and bent up the bucket on 3 of them.
If you don't tackle projects more demanding than dirt or gravel or shredded bark, the std bucket is okay. But if you're a normal red-blooded american tractor guy, you'll eventually want to push out a stump, or dig out a frigidaire-sized rock. And you'll bend the lower bucket lip, the top lip, and/or the sides. And then wish to hell you'd gotten the hd.
BUT (caps for emphasis) get the JD green hd bucket, not some 3rd party / generic thing that the dealer is BS'ing as the real thing. JD's HD is the same bucket as the std bucket, except it has double steel top and side plates welded in, and a much thicker plate for the bottom edge.

Thanks Jim, this is all very new to me. I want to make the best purchase possable the first time around. The dealer that informed me of the HD bucket option told me it was black and adds about $100 over the standard bucket. I just assumed it was a JB brand (my fault). Can you or anyone tell me how much more the JB bucket might be and if JD has any information on this option (and any other well keep secrets). It would be real nice if the dealers (at least the two I have spoken with) would disclose all options with there customers. Thanks again. ....

Bob, you are on the right track. Be sharp and stay informed. Every time I have purchased a car, truck or tractor in the last twenty-five years I have known more about the machine by the time I signed the papers than the dealer did. Devour pictures and schematics, read and reread stat sheets and features. Read between the lines on the web sites. Ask lots of questions.

Most dealers and salesmen only see walking dollar signs when you saunter into their showrooms. Their interest stops at their wallets. There are exceptions, and those guys contribute to this board. They love their product and they want a satisfied customer, a pretty rare occurrence these days.

FYI, I have been recently banned from a dealership because I cancelled an order. For five or six weeks I heard “next week” or “it’s on the dock waiting for a truck load”.
So I started calling around and got the truth from other sources.
The owner finally admitted what I had learned from other dealers. He could not get the model I wanted this year and had no realistic idea of when he could get one.

So now I am told I am not welcome back, he does not even want my parts and service business. Maybe I don’t want to do business with that type anyway.
