Have anyone had the problem when you dump your load that it stops part way down then you have to work with thejoy stick to get it to go on? You can dump all day empty and works fine. Thanks

Warren, I have a 430 loader on a 4400 and have never experienced that one. I probably have about 45 hours of pure loader work on the tractor. ....

My 4100 with 410 loader did that intermitently. It would just happen for no apparent reason while piling material. Never had it looked at, traded the tractor for a larger one. ....

This situation can occur when there is a relatively heavy load being dumped from the bucket. The weight of the load trys to extend the bucket dump cylinders faster than the incoming oil flow can fill them, and air bubbles are sucked into the cylinders. This "cavitation" can cause jerky operation and/or the bucket may stop moving completely. The system has to be "burped" to eject the air. You do this by cycling the cylinders full stroke several times. To minimize cavitation, run the engine speed faster to provide greater hydraulic flow. Also if you try to dump the load very slowly by feathering the control, cavitation is more likely to occur. If you dump the bucket rapidly by pushing the control lever all the way to the right into the detent position, cavitation is less likely to occur. ....

Jack's explanation is the one I understand as well, although I can't figure where the air would come from. Never the less, the bucket on my Allied loader pauses mid-way when dumping a heavy load and then continues. The irony with tractor loaders is that the cylinder shafts are on the curl, rather than dump, side of the cylinder. That means that the dump has more power and operates slower than the curl. Most often, I think I want more power on the curl and more speed on the dump, but things don't work like that. If there is a detent for the bucket control on the joystick, I wonder if the detent is the fast dump feature that I've heard about on some JD loaders. If so, it may work from a regenerative circuit. Regenerative circuits connect the two sides of the cylinder and the high-pressure line together. Exhaust oil from the passive side of the cylinder that normally goes to the sump can go to the powered side of the cylinder, so less oil from the pump is required. Regenerative circuits work faster but have less power than normal circuits. ....

Tom,
As you guessed, the detent position on the bucket control of the joystick does initiate a regenerative circuit on JD loaders. It is built into the Dual Selective Control Valve mounted on the tractor and operates just as you described. ....

Warren; Me thinks youmay be operating mid to low rpm's and you are using the regular side of the dump. The dump circuit also has a hi-speed dump (regenerative is the term most use) You push the lever AAAAALL the way to the right. Usually at mid and lower rpm's there is some hesitation in between the two if you start on the slow side just dribbling etc then move to hi side to finish dump. ....
