I just bought a JD 750. It was from a dealer in used equipment. He was not sure of the year but said the serial number would tell for sure. In the heat of negotiation, I forgot to get the year. The number is CH075USO16319. Can anyone tell me what year my tractor is? It didn't come with any manuals. What is a good source of manuals for the John Deere? TIA, Dave

DJE I don't know what year the 750 is but a good source for tractor manuals is Yesterdays Tractors online store. They have a huge selection, the one your looking for is a little spendy, about forty bucks I think. Another option if you're patient and don't mind the auction formats is E-bay, Amazon, Yahoo, etc. A good way to search is thru Auctionwatch.com. It searches about 300 sites including the three big ones I mentioned above. Dad has a 755 and I was able to get him the manuals thru the auctions including implement manuals in about a month at a fraction of the cost. ....

Jim - Thanks for the response. I will check the auctions. I am sure the local JD dealer can help me on Monday but I was anxious to get an answer sooner. I was patient to find the right tractor, I guess I can wait 27 more hours. Dave ....

Roger, the first thing I want to find out is the actual year of manufacture of my tractor. I was told the serial number would tell me this but I don't have and John Deere books or manuals so I need someone's help. I would be curious as to the total weight of the machine with the 3 point hitch and the loader installed. Dave ....

I see that Bernie has already told you that your tractor is probably a '95. You can't do better than to follow his advice on the manuals. Shipping wt for the th 750 4wd was 1896 lbs. The #70 loader - which is probably what you have - ships at 656 lbs. Larger and smaller loaders to fit your tractor won't miss this by more than 100 lbs. Congratulations on your 750! They are good tractors. In fact, that whole line of 650 thru the 1090 were good. Did you get power steering? Is is still available as a kit. ....

Dave,

I am curious to know what you had to give for your JD750, and what equiment it has on it or implements with it. I am looking at a 1981 4 wheel drive model. It has a lot of hours on it (3600) but comes with a 1 year old 5' finish mower, an old 5' brush hog, box scraper, and the old style scoop with trip lever. It seems mechanically sound. The owner ia asking $7000 for everything. This seems a bit pricey based on what a local dealer told me the tractor trade-in allowance is? He quotes a trade-in allowance of from $1700 to $2700 and to add about 20% to get retail value. I would appreciate any feedback you have to offer. Tom Howland ....

Tom - My 750 is a 1985 4wd. It has turf tires and was used to mow a golf cours.
It has 2000 hours on it. The dealer had just installed a new Allied loader on it. The tires are like new and the tractor was completely repainted. He thru in a new set of chains for the rear tires. It has a 3 point hitch and rear PTo but not a front or mid mount PTO. It runs like new and I have been very please with it in the first six months. I will use in in the snow soon.

I paid $9200 which was comparable to what other 750's were going for i my area. ....

That sounds like a great deal. Glad you got it. All else being equal, I agree that it is better to put a loader on a used tractor than to look for a used one with the loader already on it. The only down side would be that loader tractors usually have the power steering option. BTW, did you ever get a chance to investigate that power steering kit that JD offers for your tractor? ....
