Metalmole,

If you can't find used parts for your tractor, you might find a ball joint manufacturer who makes one exactly like it. Take a few measurements with a caliper and then compare specs.

Hope this helps.

Parts for those machines are widely available, if you go to a New Holland dealer they will be a standard part.

If there isn't a NH dealer nearby, ANY farm dealer will be able to order you the parts from aftermarket jobbers.

There's also many dealers who have website you can order small parts like that from online and they're just shipped right to your door.

Best of luck. ....

I think the problem you might be having is two-fold.

First, the 501 wasn't a hugely popular tractor.

Secondly, they didn't call them "ball joints" since the front end uses a king pin / spindle arrangement. They called them "drag links".

However, on your side is the king of thrifty, Henry Ford. He went to great lengths to achieve commonality and to share parts across different models and even different vehicles.

I suspect the drag link in the link below will be what you're looking for.

Best of luck.

I believe that many of the parts for all of those old Fords are interchangeable. TSC might even have them, if you have a store in your area. A couple of other places that have parts:
C & C Repair 517-596-3400
Dennis Carpenter (They have all kinds of restoration for Fords).

In our area we have several large salvage yards that deal with those kinds of things. Robberts is such a place in Western Ohio. If you have a larger NAPA store, they also could possibly get these parts. ....
