You can buy the factory Operators Manual which shows you how to do brakes and a bunch of other things you SHOULD check like the oil level in the fuel injector pump. It is like $20 or so. There is also the repair and parts manual you can buy when you need it. The Operators Manual gives most ajustment and common repair,so you may want to wait on ordering the Repair Manual. The best Belarus parts guy in the Nation is Mark at 641.710.2289. Tell him Barry gave you his #.

I adjusted the brakes on my 405 yesterday and the shaft that rotates to activate the brake band was frozen PB Blaster from PepBoys and some back and forth finally freed it up. I let it sit overnight after I soaked it with PB Blaster. ....

Thank you Barry for the valuable info. I have already tried numerous websites to get a repair manual and a operators manual just to have both. No one seems to have that particular manual for the 300. Everyone has the 250 and 305 manuals. Im still looking...lol. I dont have any brakes at all on the tractor. I have had several ppl to tell me how to adjust the brakes but no luck yet. Im wondering if the belts are broke. Thxs alot Barry for the info. Much appreciated. ....

I have a 250 which is close to the 300, it is winter project. I just looked at the manuals for the first time and they are not that good. The brakes are almost the same as my 400 but the adjusters on yours are on top and the 400 is on the bottom. I have not put the adjustment covers back on my 400> If you want pictures of the adjusters uncovered and a picture of the adjusters on the 250/300 give me your email and I will send pictures. The pictures will make it easier. I will also give you the adjuster turns for the 400 which should be close.Assuming nothing is frozen and works, it is about a 1/2 job. YOu will need someone to work the brakes when you get the covers off to see if things move correctly. This is a brake drum on the drive axle with a brake band that goes around it. The pedal rod makes the band go tighter. simple stuff if everything moves ....

I got the covers off the top. They are a half moon shape cover with four bolts. Once I got the covers off theres 2 nuts on a bolt. One nut seems to be a lock type nut. I was told if I remove that nut the one under that nut is the one you turn to adjust the brakes. I got the top nuts off. I got to go get a metric tool for the second nut to turn it. I noticed theres alot of play on the bolt and both nuts on the right side. I can move it around alot more than the one on the left side. Im hoping theres nothing broke. I went and got some pb blaster and sprayed so maybe with luck that might help ( I doubt it). The pictures may help me. My email is chris6195@gmail.com. I really appreciate you helping me would like to get brakes on my tractor just got it and everything works but no brakes. Thxs alot for your time. ....

I will send the pictures tomorrow and my tele #. CAREFUL with the PB blaster. Dont get it on the drums or you will oil the brakes and they will not stop. Dont worry too much about the play. You can adjust them even. The first adjustment is a bolt that goes into that housing that also has a lock nut, see picture tomorrow. It is 90 degrees down and behind the half moon openings.Turn in till it is gets tight ( not all the way down real tight) and back out 3/4 turn. Adjust the big nuts you were talking about after this. Adjust them so that the brake has a 2 inch travel on both pedals. ....
