is the starter on a belarus 525 rebuildable? I have the right voltage going to it but it sounds like the starter is dragging real bad and barely turns the tractor over. But on a good day the tractor will start but if it dont on two or three revolutions then it wont start at all. What can i do? money very limited.

To repair it economically you'll want to maximize testing and minimize part replacement. The first thing you want to do is make 100% sure your battery connections and engine ground are perfect. If they are, then take the batteries down to be load tested. Battery shops will do this for free. The voltage measured at the battery is only a small part of how good they are. It's very common for batteries to test at 12.6 volts and not be able to deliver the necessary amperage under load (which is why they have load testers). If the batteries test OK then you can either test the starter amp draw yourself or remove the starter and take it somewhere to test. No sense in attempting a rebuild if it tests OK. ....

Scotts07,
I agree. Don't rebuild the starter until you're sure the starter is bad. In most cases the starter isn't the culprit.
Very few people ever take the time to check the ground connection, at the frame of the tractor. This connection is just as critical as the battery terminal connections.
Tractors sit outdoors a great deal of the time. Additionally, they operate in rain, snow, mud, and even cattle urine.
It's a good idea to take that ground connection loose from the tractor every year or so, and then use a wire brush on both the tractor and the ground wire terminal. If you haven't done that yet, it's a great place to start. This will cure most electrical problems relating to poor starter performance.
If you still have problems with the starter, even after doing everything you're capable of.....then follow Kwschumm's advice. A starter rebuild is the LAST item on that list.
