One of the better tractors in that size and years. It is actually a Yanmar built to some JD specs....but without Yanmar's powershift. I think that Yanmarcalled it the 220D? Anyone know? All in all - a dandy tractor.I am not aware of any problems specific to the model. Just check the usualthings And pay special attention that the front wheel bearings are tight and the wheel rotation feels good. My own opinion is that the price is about 20% high.....but what the heck...you could also spend the rest of your life looking for a good tractor. We are talking 20% of not a whole lot of money here. In my mind it comes down to: What was the machine primarily used for?If one guy owned it and mostly mowed, then the high price becomes more palatable. If it belonged to a landscaper who hired kids to do loader work with it then I am going to study the machine a while longer. And why is he selling it? BTW,Does the one you are looking at have power steering? This machine was available with an accessory power steering cylinder which gaveit real power-assist steering - not hydrostatic. The parts to add this arestill sold by JD as a kit for about a grand. Fill the loader bucket with wetdirt or sand and see if you need power steering... Roger L ....

I own a JD 750 that I bought new in '83. It has been one of the best investments I've ever owned. In the 16 years that I've owned it the only trouble I've encountered is the cam pivot shaft for the brakes. It has a tendency to rust which causes it to not allow the brakes to release properly. This is easily overcome though with a little preventive maintenance from time to time. I own the all the implements you listed with the exception of the front end loader. I've been pleased with the performance of the 750 using any of the attachments. If you plan on using the loader though, you will definitely want power assisted steering. Even with the front-mount snowblower (59") the steering becomes labored due to the increased weight. Keeping higher air pressure in the front tires works for using the snowblower, but with a loader I'm sure you'll want power steering. The price seems to me to be about 25-30% high unless everything been well maintained and is in excellent condition. The 3-cyl. Yanmar diesel has never missed a lick in all the years I've owed it. I use a block heater in the winter and it has never failed to start for me regardless of how cold it was. In short -- it's a great machine.Good Luck! ....

Tim,I'm in Central California (Silicon Valley). I recently paid about $14.5K for a JD 650 with 310 hours, a Bush Hog loader, JD 550 tiller, and finish mower. I've been very happy with it, even though it's a smaller tractor than you are looking at. My dealer is able to supply me with any spare parts I need even though it was made for them by Yanmar, as noted- I think this is one of the major advantages of the green tractors. My usage is mainly mowing and light landscaping. I've added a post hole digger from Northern Supply- definately a positive addition for post holes, planting larger plants, or digging in soil additives. ....

I bought an '81 JD 750 last February, here in SC. The tractor was in reasonably good condition with 977 hours on. Mine is 2wd only, and does not have a loader on it. I got the tractor, a four foot disc harrow, and some ballast weights for all of $4500 dollars. Good deal, no??Keith ....

I am looking at a 1981 4WD JD750 here in Illinois. The tractor has 3600 hours on it, looks and runs good. It has a almost new 5' finish mower, old 5' bush hog, box scrapper, and trip level scoop. The seller is asking $7000 for all. I would appreciate any feed back on the asking price? Also any views opinions on the hours?
