 Owning a Yanmar?

I'm considering buying a Yanmar tractor to keep up my yard and garden. Would any owners please comment on their experiences owning a Yanmar? Are they Good or just cheap junk?
Thanks for any help.

 Owning a Yanmar?

I don't own a complete Yanmar tractorSmile but the Engine in my John Deere 4700 is made buy Yanmar of Japan and IMHO is the best small diesel engine in the market place. My previous tractor (JD 755) was made by Yanmar for JD and was a very good small compact tractor. Yanmar is a good brand and If the tractor has not been abused it will be a good tractor.

David

 Owning a Yanmar?

I own a very small Yanmar tractor. Mine is the size of a large garden tractor. To say the least, I'm very impressed with this tractor. Often when you get to the smaller machines the mfr's will start to cheapen the machines to keep them under a price point. Not this little fella. This a real tractor, just in a smaller scale. This is not a lawn tractor or a garden tractor. This machine is built to work every day for 30 years. that said, it does have some draw backs. Parts are hard to come by. Service is impossible-you must be able to wrench for yourself. The ability to resell the tractor is also limited as it's not a known brand. But it's for those three reasons that the purchase price of these tractors is so depressed. My biggest advice to you is to check over any tractor that you are looking at very closely. Note anything that might be wrong and look into weither or not you can get parts for it. There are some parts that are unobtainable.

 Owning a Yanmar?

Hi, I have owned My YM3000 for about five years. It is a 1977 model. Rated at 34 hp. It has been a great tractor with just the most basic maintanence needed. I also have a Bushhog brand loader mounted. I have used the pto, loader and three point in many tough situations over the years as I clear land building this little farm in SC. The only thing I might change if I ever upgrade would be to have 4 wheel drive. The loader adds much weight to the front end, which may at times cause the rear to get a little light without a ballast. I usually just hang the box blad back there to do heavy loader work. have had good luck with this tractor. Tony

I have a 155D. It's been a great tractor. It is 15hp, however, 15hp is like having 25hp gas. I have a front loader, Howard Rotovator, and a Post hole digger. The japan version I think is a YM1300. Can't tell you what they go for now, and it all depends on the condition. Don't buy a wreck or a fixer. Make sure everything works. Parts are not cheap. That goes for any tractor.

Andy
