Guys,I have not researched this myself, but I wanted to know, will the R-1 agricultural tires fit on the rims my R-4 industrials are on? I like the width and area these R-4s provide, but as far as traction they fail miserably.Just a thought on my part.Sincerly Hillbilly

Hillbilly, I've always been told you have to change wheels as well as tires to go from R1 (ag) tires to R4 (industrial) tires or vice versa. They use different widths. I'm not absolutely sure, but thing that applies to all the tractors and tires.

Thanks Bird,
Since I already have the wheel weights etc I think a set of tire chains would be the easiest and quickest solution, the wheel weights would not fit on the R-1 wheels.Know what I mean?I would have to re-do everything.

Mr. H.B.

Did you check out the Duo-Grip tractor chains at tirechain.com ? Chains are the way to go for mud and snow. I have a set for my rear R-4's on my JD4700.
Also wheel weights will not help as much with loader wotk as a counter balance such as a weight box or a backhoe.
Good Luck !
Tony

Right you are, Anthony. Wheel weights are great for traction and stability, but they don't do much of anything to counterbalance a loader. For that you need weight behind the rear axle.
