 Tractor size needed, please help

Hello all, I own just under 5 ackers. We need to landscape my current home and new home. All landscaping will be stone. I have to maintain 1/4 mile of road all year(snow removel). And mowSmile Adding trees, fences and things like thatSmile

Would like to stay with the main types (kubota, NH, Kioti)(John Deere are over priced in my area) and I would like Hydro for my wifeSmile

Thanks

KC

KC,

Take a look at the Kubota B7610HST. I think you'll like it.

The B7610 will easily do all the jobs you've listed, plus many more.

Joel

Joel makes a good suggestion but I think a BX model might do just fine too. With one possible exception...when you say stone work, what do you mean? Big, natural stones that would weigh more than 500 pounds? If so and depending how much bigger, the B model would be better....but even then the B would lift about 900 pounds....so it depends on the size of your stone work. Some larger stones will easily go over 900 pounds.

You can also consider the BX24 with a backhoe....very versatile...again depending on how heavy the lifting would be. The BX is an amazingly powerful machine that is sometimes underestimated.

Brian

KC,

The only complaint I have with my B2100 is that the ROPS do not fold down. This makes it necessary for me to trim my trees a bit higher than I normally would.

In the Fall of the year, when the trees are heavy with apples, I have a difficult time mowing around them.

Other than that small issue, the B2100 handles the farm yard just fine......which is just over 5 acres in size. I mow about 2 acres, keep about 1/2 acre tilled, and the balance is in pasture.

When I go to trade off my B2100, I'll be looking for a B7610........possibly the B7800.

By the way, my wife is 5ft tall and she has no problem operating all of the controls. She really likes the power steering.

Joel

KC,

Get the BX model....it will do just fine. I don't know the price of a BX24 vs. say a B7610 but I'm guessing about the same, but with the hoe you will have a very versatile unit that can do digging to plant the trees you want. You can also trench with it, dig footings for landscaping walls etc. A box blade is the second most useful implement behind the FEL, but not as good for blading snow. Get a straight blade that will angle as well. The FEL is not very useful for moving snow.

Good Luck,

Brian
