 Ford 1500 loader

I am looking for a loader for my 1500. Can the hydrolics handle the loader? There are so many brands out there, any recommendations? Any help is greatly appreciated.Kurt Carlsonkurt@tiki.net

 Ford 1500 loader

Couple of things to consider. Is the loader going to have enough power to lift what you need? Some people use loaders for material handling, and the loads may be heavier than buckets of gravel. Is the loader going to be fast enough? Loader speed is determined by hydraulic pump capacity and frame geometry. However, power and speed trade off--more of one gets less of the other. The dump speed of basic loaders without fast dump features can be aggravatingly slow, especially if a a lot of lifting power is desired. Is it going to be used to make shallow excavations (can be done but digging with a loader does risk damaging it)? The buckets of some loaders don't go lower than ground level with a flat bucket and aren't too good at digging. Is there a Cadillac budget? If so, a loader with a self-leveling bucket feature might be desirable. Loaders lift in arcs, and the bucket angle changes during a lift. Loaders with pallet forks are especially affected. Without self-leveling, the curl must be adjusted periodically during a lift to keep a load level. Without attention, people dump logs and gravel off the back of the bucket onto the tractor hood. My used 1710 came with an Allied 195 loader. I think of Allied as OK moderate cost basic loaders. The dump speed of mine can be aggravating, and I often use the foot throttle to raise RPM during dumping. A 1710's hydraulic pump is rated around 8 gpm compared to around 6 gpm (I think) for a 1500. Dealers are pretty good at sorting this stuff out and matching unit to requirements and budget.
