 4 n 1 bucket

First time posting message. I think this is a great site. I have 4n1 bucket on my JD4400Hst and it is great. I pull up trees with a trunk diameter of 4-6 inches and pile them in a pile to burn. W/o the 4n1 bucket you are limited to only scooping dirt or rock with the loader. Mine only cost approx $1400 total and has paid for itself already.

 4 n 1 bucket

Welcome, and hope you stick around. I find a plain bucket is a seriously over-worked implement. They end up being used for all sorts of things they just don't do very well or very safely. There are a bunch of loader add-ons that improve a loader, and 4-in-one is a pretty good one. I've gone the other way and acquired 3ph implements rather than loader enhancements. Either route works out OK, and it's good to get the tractor tools sorted out. The longer I have my tractor, the more my plain bucket gets used only for scooping loose material--that's what it does well. A neighbour recently got a Ford 1510. I noticed a single grab hook is welded on the centre of the bucket top. Sure enough, the top has a nice bow to it 'cause somebody thought the loader was a forklift. Plain buckets also get scrunched up 'cause people sometimes think they are blades.

Welcome to the board, James. I also have a 4400HST, but no 4n1 bucket. I have the JD heavy-duty 61" bucket with an ATI removable toothbar on it. I also had grab hooks welded on top of the bucket on both sides and a slip hook welded to the middle of the bucket. Turns out this whole combination is great for my uses, but there are definitely times that a grapple hook or 4n1 bucket would be nice. This spring I sprung for a Brush-Brute to uproot small trees (1-4" diameter) and that seems to work pretty well so far also. Which brand 4n1 bucket did you buy? I assume you got it welded up with quick-tach brackets for the 430 loader. And do you use the optional 3rd SCV for the jaw cylinder, or a different arrangement?
