unable to attach sickle bar mower

Hey,
I have a Kubota L3000 compact tractor, and am unable to get my sicle bar mower attached, even after shortening the stabilizer bars. The area around the 3ph is just too tight to allow the mower to move close enough to the hitch. It's awful close, but not close enough.

Somewhere a couple of years ago I saw a picture of device that attached to the 3ph, and effectively extended the attach point (of the top attach point, I think)by several inches. Its intended purpose was to aid in connecting implements to compact tractors in exactly the circumstance I have with my sickle mower. As I remember it was basically some steel plate welded together, designed to connect to the top attach point at one end, and the implement at the other.

Of course, now that I need one, I can't remember what it was called or where I might be able to get one. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Bill

westone, I'm asuming that a 3000 has a category one three point hitch. What kind of sickle mower are you trying to attach? Are you sure of whether the mower is a cat. one or a cat. two hitch? I'm sure the welded steel unit you mention is called a quick coupler hitch. I don't remember the different hitch category dimensions right off, but a cat. two is just a bigger stronger verson of a category one hitch, a cat three is stronger and bigger than a cat. two, and so on up the line thru cat. five hitches for really big tractors. Check the owners manual of both your tractor and the mower to be sure of the hitch sizes. Hope this helps, Frank.

I'm a little confused here (not that it's necessarily anything to do with this thread of course) but the description of the problem isn't really clear to me.

I'm guessing that the lower lift arms won't spread far enough to hitch onto the mower. If that is indeed the case, then the solution could be as simple as turning the pins around so that they point inwards instead of out, or for that matter, just reverse one so that the mower can slide sideways into the hitch.

I hope that helps, it's lots cheaper than a quick hitch.

Best of luck.

Another suggestion or question is whether or not the lift arm anti-sway bar turn buckles are tighten too tight, not allowing the arms to spread far enough.
